10th September 2021 - Vincent Update
As you know Lynne n Me have been out riding Vincent far more this year.
And as usual small things crop up that need to be done.
I have been noticing that the front brake has become spongy, and every now and then could pull the front brake lever to the handle bars !
So before things get any worse, it's time to order some parts.
Have ordered - "Front Brake master Cylinder Kit"
There are no fluid leaks to be seen, but as I suspect the master cylinder kit is from when Vincent was new.
I suspect this may be part or all the problem ?
VN15 SE - 88-96 Goodridge Front Brake Hose.
The front rubber brake hose looks like the original one as well.
Altho I cannot see any cracks or bubbles in the brake hose, I decide that it's worth doing at the same time as the master cylinder.
And just in case have ordered
Kawasaki VN-15 SE B 1988-1994 [Tourmax] [Front Brake Caliper Repair Kit]
Sometimes we have noticed the numb bum syndrome whilst we have been out riding.
Especially at low speeds, but also at higher speeds after about 50 - 60 miles covered.
So after looking around as we cannot afford gel or air pads, We found some posts and people were raving about Decided to buy and find out if they are any good.
As Lynne was suffering as well, I brought an air seat thing for her as well.
Off comes the seat lock
Bummer I cant find the alan tool bit so I can use a socket :( :(
And the longest of my Alan keys I just couldn't get my fat hands in there
So I ponder for a bit, I don't wanna remove the rear rack and pannier....
Looked up n see Lynne emptying the Lawn Mower :) :)
But there is nothing I can do, so I decide to remove the pannier and rack all together.
With Lynne's Help.
That's better :) :)
But Now find the dam allen key won't fit in the allen bolts !
So with the persuader and trying to not hit mt fingers, eventually out come both bolts. I will replace with new ones.
and the rack and pannier are sat out of my way
and off comes the seat
with the usual drips of water soaking my legs!
Finally I have a clear surface to start putting everything back together again.
I grab the small Side Panniers from the Green Shed
and offer them up & that's when we notice the broken Zip.
It took Lynne n me a while to figure out a bodge for now.
The they are useful and enough for our needs.
Will take them to a rally and get a leather stall and get both zips replaced.
it takes some jiggling but we get the panniers to sit were we want them.
But before we can refit the seat.
Have to fit the air seat comforter things.
My cover fits easily enough :) :)
Lynne's one took some thinking about as they are not made for pillion seats (we presume the pillion has to suffer !) Not in this house she doesn't.
But eventually its on
Now comes the fun part !!
with Lynne pushing down in the seat as hard as she can, we eventually get both bolts in place and the seat is secured :) :)
Again as I have said before.
If we like the panniers and do what we need them tom then I will trim the extra leather away under the seat, so we do not have this issue every time we take the seat off...
Back goes the seat lock
and finally the rack and pannier are refitted.
I am all done in now so slowly head in doors.
Lynne follows me shortly afterwards.
All in all a good later afternoon session outside.
Am happy with what I have got done.
even if I still have the side rack Pannier ties to sort.
But will do that tomorrow & and then we can take a ride out and see if we have made any difference to our Bums Comfort :) :)
