Morning Folks.
No updates as I managed to do something to Ubuntu that I have not done since I 1st started to use it!
Corrupt it and it would not boot up !
But finally managed to get it working and thought i had got away with it, still it started to throw up spurious errors and kept crashing. (Totally my own fault)
So I backed up as much as I could, (whilst it was downloading latest ubuntu and burning a DVD
Once that was finished turned computer off, removed everything bar the 2 M2 SSD sticks that are installed on my motherboard.
Arrived today :) :)
My Computers new power supply :) :)
Well I smiled after I picked myself of the floor at the price !!
I removed this box, from the outside box.
And opened up to this nice view, it looks as if everything is well packaged.
A welcome surprise considering the lack of proper packaging that I like to see.
Still wasn't fitted to my case, but now its time to disconnect it and put it somewhere safe for now.
In fact It's time I cleared my computer desk, so I can move the computer case around without worrying about all the SSD's, harddrives and other items.
That's looking a lot better
Time to start unplugging the cables from the old PSU
and whilst I am here remove the screws, But I noticed the case was not sitting flush with the case, so I unscrewed the adaptor plate as well..
I remove all the PSU cables and put them to one side.
Luckily I had not started to secure the cables to the case for better air flow n cooling.
And with the usual aggro the PSu is out and once I have all the items together will b eon Ebay shortly.
It's time to delve into this box :) :)
And see whats underneath :) :)
I was not expecting to see this lovely site..................
Out comes the PSU and it has its own protective bag :) :)
Lovely site, Not sure what the Hybrid Mode is all about.
And no instructions, I will leave alone for now and research it later on
Nice big fan that sits inside the case, but next to it there is a harddrive cage with 4 SSD's and 1 Hardrive in it.
I do not think it would be wise to block the airflow, but not at that stage yet and no use borrowing problems for now.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Not much useful information here!
Seems clear enough, but like always pic taken just in case
Nope this PSU wont line up with the case either......
This adaptor plate was bent and warped, but with the help of the edge of my computer desk managed to get it pretty straight.
Still it took several goes to get everything to line up, even had to undo the Motherboard tray screws.
But I won out in the end....
I knew this bay was gonna cause me grief !!!!
It rubs up against the new PSU as I thought it would
So out it comes.
A sort of plan is forming in my head, will mount the SSD's somewhere else in the case and the harddrive, eventually will go to my External Sata box, to be used for back ups.
I also notice the case fan is not seated properly,
so have removed it for now.
And will put in a safe place, until I am ready to reinstall it.
I re-plug in the bare minimum cables in the rear motherboard ports
Back in goes the New Power supply an dis bolted in place...
And it's now time to start to add the power supply cables as I need them.
Even the cables have there own protective cloth bag, as well as being sealed in plastic bags...
I am starting to understand why this power supply was so expensive.
The motherboard power cables.
Good quality as well :) :)
As the cables are labelled on each socket fitting them is so simple.....
The natural curves in this cable will make tying back a real breeze to do.
Next is the CPU to Power supply cable again as all labelled, you do not need any instructions.
Again natural curves in this cable will make tying back so easy.
On checking the connectors I notice that the big one is not installed properly.
I get a nice solid click sound when I push it in straight.
Time to install the Graphics card leads that also go to the power supply.
I remove the 10 x SATA sockets card as not needed yet.
I temporary connect up the new 4TB SAta Harddrive for now.
When I fired the computer up I kept checking the fans that were connected are working as its so quiet ! :) :)
And I start moving files from the 2nd M2 card,
so I have enough room to put the ubuntu install files on it.
After all the moving of files has finished.
I download the latest version of Ubuntu
Turn of the computer
and disconnect the 4TB harddrive and connect my old DVD/DVD Writer up
Turn the computer back on and burn the ubuntu ISO file to the DVD and when finished rebooted my pc and after answering a few questions, I went to bed for the night.
A bloody good day today, ok I was sat down for most of it, but it was not the chore everything had become to do anything, I actually enjoyed the day :) :)
