Hi folks............Right up untli last week Kurgan's been running ok.
There are issues, but hopefully will work on them one by one over the winter in between working on the CBR1000 chop.
But on Monday went out to take Lynne to work and on turning the key - nothing - no lights totally dead.
So yesterday I spent running thru the whole electric circuit but couldn't find anything wrong except no power coming from the new after market ignition switch I had fitted
during the rebuild. So spent the day trying to see if anyone of the forums & on here had one lying around. But no joy.
So today its back down the brown shed to work on Kurgan and see if I could solve the mystery.
So off comes the seat again and with me trusty Timing light - yep there's power in the battery.
But Nowt at the business end
So after checking each connection on the live to switch and return live & not finding anything wrong,
its time to delve into the headlamp.
The live from the battery to the ig switch is live - but nothing coming back. Could it be the ignition switch ?.
As can be seen we have power from the battery feed wire.
So I quickly make up a hot wire plug ! and plug into the live from & live from ignition switch at the connector were the ignition switch should go............................
and we have power !
I plug back in the ignition switch and would you bloody believe it - its working !!!
Now I am baffled.........................
So I check every connection in the headlamp shell and finally find the liver wire from the switch connector block if occasionally not working.
Eventually I track it down to the orange wire that goes into the loom, so I pull off the old bullet connector - wrap the bare wire up tightly in a ball and put it back and crimp it up.
No amount of wriggling around now seems to cause the lights to go out.
So I put it all back together and will take for a test ride tomorrow - at the same time go n see how the transits coming along.....
Altho frustrating a result - well only time will tell......
