12th October 2017 - CBRTIM update

Morning Folks.
I am back in the workshop,

but as usual no plans, we will just see what get's done...

I am finally down the workshop,

and am looking at the other end of the brace I started to weld in place yesterday.

Even the arrival of this parcel,

couldn't shift the fog I was under.

Maz Edwards - at least it will be there when you need it....

Stephen Osborn - Yep, when I was looking thru stuff the other day I noticed loads of nice shiny bolts but not many nuts n washers

Maz Edwards - no we didn't get many nuts......

Maz Edwards - although I have employed a few from time to time lol

Took a while but finally used some angle iron and mole grips,

with a washer or 3 to

Maz Edwards - proper engineering

Stephen Osborn - Sure is :) :)

I pull the the brace bar into place.

a few spot welds and I can remove the mole grips, everything looks good

Now last night when I blew up the pics,

What I thought was nice n smooth solid welding after grinding it back was far from the mark

Gonna have to find some funds from somewhere to get my eyes tested again,

altho some days they are better than others

Maz Edwards - very difficult to see how good the weld is when using gasless wire... flux build up can hide it....

Stephen Osborn - that's what I am finding, so wait till I come up the house and look at photos after tiredness has gone

Maz Edwards - best way

Stephen Osborn - altho its slowing me down, its a good thing, hopefully when I get these welds double checked, some wont need to be redone

Maz Edwards - most should be fine

Stephen Osborn - I have upmost faith in your welding..

I grind back the spot welds :):)

Maz Edwards - awesome

Stephen Osborn - Still a long way to go, but 7lb hammer didn't shift it

and I put a V in the other side,

along were welds didn't cover properly yesterday.

Maz Edwards - getting there

Stephen Osborn - thanks, just taking things slowly and getting there

Neil Wheater - If the welds not covering turn up the amps and wire speed a bit

Stephen Osborn - Cheers Neil, but already nearly flat out..

and drop a small run of weld in there:)

Looking a lot better,

but again on blowing up the pic, still not happy,

so will grind another V on the small area that needs re welding

Maz Edwards - much better - almost there

Stephen Osborn - Cheers Maz

I have dropped a few more spot welds on this end,

but had to stop as hand shake and breathing became laboured,

so sat outside workshop for 40 mins or so and soaked up the suns Rays

Maz Edwards - don't push yourself so hard...

Stephen Osborn - easy to say Darlin, as you know, I don't feel you are pushing yourself till its too late (as you know)

Maz Edwards - that's what you have me for

Stephen Osborn - it is and we are very grateful and lucky for Your help on the other end of facebook is helping more than you know, especially as if I am not sure it stops me doing anything till we discussed it

Maz Edwards - sorry it has to be by "remote"...

Stephen Osborn - Maz You don't need to apologise darlin - health always comes first and you are still here helping me loads. Plus as You said, this way I am putting in a lot of the grunt work now

Maz Edwards - could be good exercise both physically and mentally as long as you don't over do it

Stephen Osborn - for both of us and over do it - would we

Maz Edwards - as if............

Stephen Osborn - Maz hahahahahahahahahaah - ooops sorry fell of me chair

Maz Edwards - gotcha lol

and after another weld dropped in and ground flush,

it looks a lot better,

I just need to attack it with the belt sander

to smooth it all off

Maz Edwards - good work

This side is improving fast,

but I have a dimple and not sure how to go about sorting it at the moment

Maz Edwards - just get it as smooth as possible without reducing wall thickness..

Stephen Osborn - its a lot easier now got the belt sander, just wish the belts would last longer

Maz Edwards - check what grit they are...

Stephen Osborn - 60 - am looking at some 40 at moment but cant seem to find many that fit the belt sander i got

Maz Edwards - I used to get mine from local tool supplier - check screwfix and tool station online

Stephen Osborn - Will do

Neil Wheater - 120 pad on a detail sander does the job

Stephen Osborn - Cheers Neil

But the brace is looking good,

Ok Still got the bottom and other side to weld up.

but at the moment I cannot get round the other side of the bike table at the moment,

as not enough room in the Workshop to pull it away from the wall

Maz Edwards - take your time....

Stephen Osborn - I was trying to get brace across both parts of the frame on right
