14th August 2021 - Vincent Update

Published on 20 August 2022 at 06:43

Today I am pottering around Vincent.

Lynne has mentioned that she is having trouble with her knees as we ride,

So into the workshop I go and find a set of floorboards,

That look as if they will fit.

But they don't fit as they should,

so I add some washers to pack things out a bit and the problem is sorted (for now)...

At the moment I need to move teh left side pannier backwards.

by tying the side straps around the saddle bag carrier

Broken Zip Bodge !

Till we can get to a rally and get new Zips on the side panniers.

I am not sure if I am strapping the side panniers on properly.

as it seams there are clips missing.

But for now it will do..

Now I am gonna see if I can fit extra front lights !
As the headlamp is as worse than my old FS1E was !!

Mounts and lights.
I brought them as from a VN1500. 88
But I have yet to be convinced of this.

After removing the horn mount plate, I offer them up to see if the holes line up ??

They are not even close :( :(

I suspect this light bar is from the VN800,

So I remove the lights from the bar

As it does not fit Vincent.

There is no point in keeping the mount bar.

I will take some pics and use tape measure were needed and get it listed..

So I sit back and look at the light shell and Vincent

and an idea springs to mind.
So into the workshop to find some slightly longer 6mm bolts

and I offer the light shell up to the Horn mount bolts.
But the shell sits on the front end and I just can not get the holes to line up..
So it's time to sit back again and have a rethink.

and before long another idea springs to mind :) :)
So back into the workshop to see what useful mounts I could find..
And found these :) :)

I undo the bottom air box cover and bolt up the larger light mounts I had found.
But nothing would line up :( :(
So back off it comes.......................

So I try the original lamp mounts. And altho tight they bolt straight in .
I may have to bend them slightly when I test the lights.
To make sure they do not blind oncoming traffic
and they light up the road were the dip beam should be..

So i quickly nip round and try the other side and it fits as well :) :)
Altho I have not stripped the light down yet.

I am getting very tired now so nip in doors grab a drink have a good wash and hit the bed.
And I am soon zonked out.

If its another nice day tomorrow I will find some spade connectors and some wire and wire them in and reset the lenses to were they should be.

Hopefully be well enough to go for a ride and when it starts to get darker - adjust the lights :) :)
