15th August 2021 - Vincent Update.

Carrying on from Yesterday's pottering around Vincent and doing some of those small jobs, that you keep putting off !

Time to remove front lamp unit

One of the holding screws was very tight to removed !

Upon checking it had been crossed threaded by a previous owner.

So I will replace with a new one.

Was expecting loads of wires !

Am used to dealing with old Honda's were every wire is crabbed inside the shell and putting the lamp back in is a nightmare.

Time to start wiring in the right day riding bulb.

Although I have used new connectors.

I like to tape them over with a bright coloured insulating tape.

The earth soon joins the live wire....

Again joiner is taped up to prevent water ingress & possible shortages.

and we screw the light all together.

It's a bit fiddly,

but the earth wire soon has it's connector crimped in place.

Quick check and look around to make sure no wires are trapped !

Add the earth wire connector to the mounting bolt and tighten up, finger tight for now.

I feed up live wire behind the plastic panel and the air filter unit thru into the headlamp shell

Ready for the left side day light wire to be joined in the shell

Undone the bolts of the Left side Day light

On removing the Left front lamp - we can see its been shorting out !!

So the spade connector gets replaced.

Just waiting for me to tape up these connectors !

and I cut n crimp the 2 day light wires together in the head lamp shell.

And add a few more connectors and join them to the existing side light connector.

Time to put the headlamp back together

Check the lights for rough alignment

and ready to test :) :)

we will come back out later on as it gets darker to double check the alignment of the lights and to finally tighten up the day lamp mount bolts...
