15th february 2014 - Various Hobbies - Workshop Update

Published on 21 September 2022 at 11:22

Morning Folks.

I am expecting to get a lot done today, with very visible results, by the time I head back indoors.

I am really struggled to find any go go juice today,

in fact took ages to drag myself down the workshop,

and only then to paint the work bench shelving.

underside of shelves get a coat

first coat on framework

altho its crown paint

Norton Commando - You have the workshop looking more like a suite at the B&B.

its struggling to cover the wood, now gotta wait for it to dry

So i decide to fit the light that will be over the lathe

The light is up, now gotta unplug the light (as currently on a plug near the door)

and I soon have them wired together and they make it very bright above the workshop

John Hayward - omg how much space

Stephen Osborn - It wont last m8

First coat of paint is dry.

So it's time for the 2nd coat.

its covered the wood a lot better than the first coat did

Altho I cant finish this bench for now as no brackets or wood.

the shelves come in handy for those tools I am using a lot

Right lets sort this mess out on the workbench!

That's looking better

double socket ready to be fitted when paint dries

I keep looking at this and am at least gonna have to start going thru this lot,

but not Today!!

The lid is too tall and too wide and would have to have toolbox stuck proud of shelving so off it comes

Norton Commando - I hate to see you do that to your new toolbox. Can you remove the Hendge Pin ?

Stephen Osborn - Luckily this toolbox was 2nd hand. I did and lid went in the bin

Didn't realise it had stuff inside
A real Bonus.

in it goes - still not quiet fitting as I want as the wiring is in the way

Norton Commando - It Looks good.

Stephen Osborn - I like it

Maria Jenkin - I like it Fran !!!! Xxxxxx

Stephen Osborn - Always good to here

Gary Seddon - All your shed jiggerypokery has got me going now. Chopped my project up to make storage and a stronger bench!

Stephen Osborn - Sorry Gary (Not Really).

I wire up the lathe socket

a bit of chiselling with my recently sharped chisel,

soon has the wire routed safety out of the way and the bottom wire trunking has its top fitted

Luckily the next trunking cover , just slides down in one piece

I start to put the covering on the roof wire trunking as all wire at this part of workshop is installed.

on goes a suitable bit of hardboard off cut

and it gets its first coat of paint

Cant find a bit for this at the moment,

but sure some will turn up as I start tidying up and sorting thru stuff

up goes the speakers to there permanent new home and the radio

Am having to use the extension block on front of bench for now as new bench sockets not wired to mains yet

second coat of paint to the board that's covering the cable area in the roof

That's were the Allen Keys went!

they not in there now.
As this tool box is for Lathe Tools and accessories.

and this draw was empty

and the top is emptied as well.

Some went straight in the bin,

some in temporary homes, to be sorted out later on

Found these 3 valve sticks - will be on ebay soon

These brake spanners will be on ebay soon

Think this wheel socket if from reliant, will be on Ebay soon.

Gay Gordon gets some more abuse

bit of a tidy up here

and the workshop floor soon looks far better

I seem to be spending a lot of time cleaning up at the moment!

Gay Grahams sucks it all up

and it looks far better

few more tubs found and they slowly filling up with stuff

Norton Commando - It will not take long to have the shelfs filled. If your like me. You just keep finding more.

Stephen Osborn - Yep, at moment just filling them up with items, I want to keep. Will sort them out properly, towards the end when I have sorted thru everything

I want to keep,

but don't have a permanent home for them yet

Right lets put this box onto the workbench

Its full of Lathe accessories

couple missing

but will be on Ebay soon

These not required so going on Ebay soon

Not a clue what it is ?

Alan Viggers - its a hand vice

Stephen Osborn - cheers Woms

Norton Commando - Tool Holder

Too big for my lathe, so will be on Ebay soon

Not a clue what it is ?

Norton Commando - Part of a jig support/clamp.

Not a clue what it is ?

Alan Viggers - another hand vice

Norton Commando - This looks like a grounding wire clamp for a welder.

mmm forwards linkage - Triumph T100?

Alan Viggers - no part of a hand change I made up

Stephen Osborn - Have a plan for the rose joints....

Most of the Lathe bits now in there permanent home

and an empty box, to show for it

So start to fill it up with items I want to sell on

and it makes a space on the bench storage area

All stuff to do with lathe or be used with

I have been putting of clearing out this area for a while now!

Right lets get started!

Thatss the top shelf empty - some in the bin, but most of it in boxes on the floor, waiting to be sorted

I pull this box out

and lift it onto the bench.

This lot is gonna take ages to sort thru !!

mmmmmm - will go thru,

but suspect most will go in the bin!

John Hayward - Mmmmm junk padlock hinge clasp can be used as a tail piece for scrap guitar

Stephen Osborn - ok m8 i will put in me guitar case for you.

will go thru,

but suspect most from these tubs will end in the bin!
Am being brutally harsh, as I do not have the time or the space to keep everything.

small box of new bolts (but no where to put it yet as shelves not built).
A Few spade fuses found and a small box to put them in.
That's it today, did far more than i planned and am happy,
that I am starting to sort some of the boxes out.

Ok some of it will be in temporary homes for now,

but hopefully it will clear space were i want to work next
