15th January 2014 - Various Hobbies - Workshop Update

Published on 21 February 2023 at 05:43

Hi Folks............

I suppose after last nites success at Old Nicks Open Mike nite and for a few brief hours have so much fun and laughter,

today I had to hit rock bottom once again.

I have had to force myself even to just get up today, let alone do anything.

So it is no expectation at all, I head down the workshop as I just want to be on my own....

I know how it is to force yourself up and out. The winter weather doesn't make it any easier. But you do it anyway. This is a Big Plus M8.

Cheers, funnily enough the winter weather don't bother me that much.
And now the workshop is deffo T-shirt after 15 mins of the Halogen heater - even less

Whilst sitting there, I notice that the shelf I put in yesterday wasn't flush with the framework,

So out came the hasp and a very therapeutic hour or so, its now flush.

I open the RCD box to see whats inside and to see if there are any instructions!

No instructions, so gonna have to scour the internet to figure out how to wire it up.

Andrew Smith

Mr C the Blue wire is the nuetral so the brass block at the bottom is the nuetral conections, the one at the top is the earth block and the two connections on the main switch are the live and nuetral, Put the nuetral leg of your feed opposite side to the blue cable and the live goes in the one next to it as the opposite side has jumper links in so the two single swithces are your outputs does that help.

can you do a diagram please
Andrew Smith
will have a go

Stephen Osborn
cheers m8

Andrew Smith
Have sent you an email

Norton Commando
That sucks. You buy it. They do not even send you proper instructions for connection. I hope you get it connected.

Stephen Osborn
Cheers Andrew - got it and printed and will take down workshop - ready for when I attack the wiring

Lining up for shelf framework

Again, I am resting my back, am sat in a chair just listening to Planet Rock, when I notice this side of the shelf isnt flush either

It takes a bit longer this time, but I feel more at peace

Bummer these wires (Blues mains feed into workshop, Black to water pump) are in my way

So I undo this corner and with a bit o pulling and wriggling the wires come though

Hardboard off cut - for my next little job

Its soon cut sanded and screwed into place

I cut a hole for the light switches and fit the dry liner box

I cut a hole for the light switches and fit the dry liner box

so a 2x1 baton found in my off cuts bin and a bit of hardboard found on the floor

A perfect fit

I screw in some more 2x2 off cuts

and screw the switch back plate into place

Im not ready to start playing around with electrics just yet,

Norton Commando

You still have plenty of time to think about where you want connection.

Stephen Osborn
Not really as hope to make a start next week

so move on to making the framework for the electrics cupboard

I find this off-cut and mark out the area I need

and altho its not a very good fit, it will do and is soon screwed in place.

I mount the RCD box in place.

If anyone knows how to fit one of these things and can explain it in English of no more than 2 cylables (as i'm thick) please message me the details.

In this space will be another shelf about 13" apart, which is just right for those collapsible storage baskets

Ive just about had enough only about 5 hours down here today, not much done and cant be arsed to paint bits Ive done.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day

Nite all, now wheres that guitar
