15th October 2022 - Day 1 of our Trip away this weekend. - "Wilmslow"" Manchester

Published on 18 October 2022 at 06:02

About 10am sees us on the road to "Wilmslow", but first we need to fill up with diesel.

We didn't realise just how much fuel had gone up by, as its been nearly a year since I last filled up. I gave up at £95.00 !!
Which turned out to be nearly a full tank and should be enough for the weekend, but just glad we do not have to fill up more often at the moment.

So back past our home and we are on our way, about 5 miles away I had an accident, luckily just managing to get out of the transit just in time, altho the passing cars probably didn't think so.
So after a quick change we are back on out way.

No rushing about as this is the longest I have driven since 2018, and we know my health has deteriorated a lot since then. We did stop a few times, but we had time in had as we were not meeting up with the seller of the Sink/Cooker combined unit till 4pm.

We duly arrived, altho I did struggle on the way there, but with Lynne beside me chatting away keeping me going :) :)

No fridge, but we not bothered about that as we have a 12 volt cooler. Even came with the glass lids and he threw in the water pipes as well :) :)

We are both happy with the unit, and it will not take too much cleaning up, and loads of storage space.

The seller gave us the fridge door, so just a couple of hinges and that will sort that out and possible a shelf or two if Lynne wants them...

Next stop was for out hotel for the night.

Deanwater Hotel - Woodford. We thought was expensive when we booked, but with great reviews and good pics of the rooms and surrounding areas, we thought sod it, lets treat ourselves.

From the time we met the receptionist we knew we were in for a great stay. Talk about happy &  smiling  staff, they could not  do enough  for us.

We mentioned when booking that I was on a Zimmer frame and needed ground floor and that what they provided.

When we entered the room, its the best  spacious nice size bathroom and a lovely king size bed & free Wifi of decent standard, no poxy 14" tv but one you could actually watch from the bed, not that we did much of that..!

Ok they seemed a bit sign happy about certain things, but in this day and age, that's probably for the best today, as they could not say they did not know.

We had settled in and were chilling when the room phone went, we looked at each other and nearly ignored it as we had no response if anyone wanted to meet up.

But Lynne answered and BJ was at reception :) :)

What a welcome surprise, and a happy few hours were spent catching up. Huge thanks m8 you made our day complete.

Not long after its time for Dinner again we thought it was expensive, but all I am gonna say it was the best meal we have ever been served and would gladly pay that money again.

It wasn't long before we were back in our room fast asleep! I was absolutely shattered. But after a good night sleep, although kept waking up for bathroom breaks and the door kept disturbing Lynne.

All in all a great day, few let downs, but did not dampen out spirits and we will definitely be staying at Deanwater Hotel again, when we next in the area.
