Hi Folks.
I think I have everything I need to build up Lynne's Computer, Using some items from Michael's old Computer, My Computer and having brought in.
Obviously She knows it is being built, but not to what specks, I plan to build it too.
I know what she wants to be able to do with it, but if she will ever use it is down to her.
I am hoping it will only take me a few days, but as I never know just how well I am gonna be from hour to hour, it will take as long as it will be, plus if I have forgotten to buy anything, that with the strikes & Xmas/New Year probably hold me up as well.
There is no room in the Computer room, and the only surface I can find, is my steps, that we use to get into the back of the transit.
The top is not really big enough, another few inches round, would make things easier for me, but it is what I have, so it will have to make do.
There is not much to Michael's old computer, apart from the case & PSU, everything else is gonna be replaced.
The DVD Rom & The hard drive, as the new motherboard does not have IDE Connectors, plus, I have brought a brand new 1TB SSD Drive that will replace the slow old clunky harddrive.
The case is missing most of the rear covers, I am hoping to find some, as I tidy up the Computer Room.
Things do not look too bad in here, The PSU will get stripped and cleaned.
Both case fans will be replaced, so the broken wire will not be an issue.
That does not really leave a lot from the motherboard area to do.
Right Time to remove all the wires, I do not need to remember what goes were as a new motherboard will be installed.
and move all the PSU and front case wires out of my way.
And out comes the motherboard.
A quick pick up of any rubbish and then it is ready for a brush clean, before looking to see if I have any motherboard mounts to move.
I soon have pushed the backing plate from the case and put with the motherboard.
I hate non matched memory modules!
It can cause so many problems.
I know Michael has been using this for years like it, as far as I am aware, But I am not happy about it.
So I will insert to the new motherboard for now and search ebay for another Corsair module to match the one we have, if not I will have to buy a pair of 2 x 16GB Modules and these can be sold off, to recover some of the money.
(I have just purchased 2 x 16GB modules, but they not expected till 4th Jan 2013, so these will have to do for now, Once the new memory arrives, I will put these on Ebay).
Micheal's old Motherboard, now put to one side, waiting to be cleaned off, The CPU cooler removed and cleaned, so I can photo graph everything and get it on eBay as soon as I can.
Not expecting much for it all, will start it at £14.99 plus post and add the "Make Offer" button".
I will try n get that sorted on Sunday or one day next week.
Lynne's new motherboard, CPU & Cooling fan.
Specs are:-
CPU Intel i5 7500
ASUS H110M-A D3 Motherboard
Not as top of the range as I would have liked to buy for her, but at the same time, this will last here the next 5 years plus!
Unfortunately I had already SOLD my I5 CPU, but, Lynne's one is newer and a newer generation than what mine was, so I am expecting it to be very nippy. (well I would do if She wanted Ubuntu, but she wants Winjows, so that is what she will have).
In goes the NON MATCHED memory modules for now, I just hope they will not cause any issues.
Till the new replacements arrive.
Unfortunately this motherboard will only use DDR3, but I am not expecting an issue with that.
But once I fire it up, and Winjows is Installed, I will make sure it has all the Bios updates done. So there may be a possibility off DDR4, we will have to wait n see.
Time to install the motherboard into the case.
There is one motherboard mount that does not line, up and I will remove the motherboard and move it when my Eyes are better.
At the moment, I am more interested in putting it all together and making sure it all works first.
I would have loved to be able to afford a Seagate SSD, as they have afar superior warranty and a great help desk.
But when I brought this a few months back, I just did not have the extra money available.
Altho this SSD has a slightly slower read/write times, it should still be a lot quicker than a SATA Harddrive.
It has been a very long time, since I originally built this Computer for Michael, and altho Timothy and him has done a few upgrades, it is still basically as I built it originally.
God only know what I was thinking back then!
As I had used too small a head on the dvd drives mount bolts and over time, they had sunk into the frame and would not come loose!.
Time for a rest as my back is starting to hurt and my eyes are getting blurry as well..
