16th March 2023 - Disco Transit Green Long Wheel base and Hi Roof Conversion

Published on 18 March 2023 at 10:15

Hi Folks....... - Not sure what will happen today....

I cannot do anything until postie and parcel force person have been to collect packages of SOLD items.

So I have been busy un-ticking a lot of items, so they do not relist automatically.

And I have started to sort some items out to auto start listing for this Saturday & Sunday..

I know painting is very restful and calming for me, so I am hoping to get out in the transit later on.

I have spoken to Ken this morning, who sounds a lot better today,

I had decided to not phone him for the last few weeks, to let him concentrate on his illness.

and we have tentatively ear marked next Wednesday to have the roof rack and the water tanks fitted...

I have to ring him up on Tuesday to make sure he is still well enough to do the work..
But fingers crossed, as it will push the conversion a long way forward.
And hopefully give me something to grip onto and carry on...........

Double Bonus job, to have worked out and cut the bed frame & have it mounted!

I have finally managed to get into the Transit :) :)

As I have forgotten to bring me paint brushes, I decided to carry on with bolting the kitchen unit to the bathroom wall and sink mount.

There is a fair bit to be getting on with, and will all need to be removed so it can all be painted.
But for now, it is more important the wall mounting and everything else mentioned above be done, so we can finally start to bolt the bed in it's right place....

I need to strip the sink back to the bare basics.

So out comes the drainer, which is the wrong one for my setup!.

So are the taps the wrong ones (Shame as we really liked them)

Both will be on eBay shortly.

That is the sink stripped back to how I brought it.

It will need a good clean, when we have finished making loads of sawdust...

I can now take the sinks vital statistics, to make up the back board for the bottom mounts.

and to stiffen up the bathroom 3mm plywould, so we can spread the weight around when we start to pull the kitchen unit to the wall and hopefully eliminate all the gaps.

This off-cut of 9mm ply seems to fit what I am looking for, it just needs a bit of a trim...

After using the plane to get the edges as level as I can.

The wash basin back board looks a lot better

I drill thru from the kitchen side and slide some threaded bar and pinch it up just over finger tight.
Enough to hold the board in place, whilst I measure the board to make sure it is the right place and then add some wood screws.

I have used a full length 10mm threaded bar for the back sink/wall/Kitchen unit mount and start to pull it all together.

That's the threaded bar pulled up tight.
and there is about 1mm gap between the wall & the kitchen unit.

I still have the rear threaded bar to be drilled thru and tightened up, but that will have to wait, till I have Lynne with me and we can empty the bathroom out.

Dam emergency break needed, so after I wash n change the wet clothes, I will try n find my Glasses and try to remember to bring the paint brushes with me...

I have decided to paint this panel, so once the sing and mounts are fitted, it does not have to be removed.

So it has it's 1st coat of paint.

Altho I cannot reach all the wall at the moment, I decide to give the wall I can reach it's 1st coat.

Lynne's popped her head in and looked a what I have done.

We had a chat and whilst she went to put a brew on, I carried on painting the bed supports, some I have just started the others I have now got all surfaces covered with there 1st coat of white paint.
These are only being painted to make the underside storage area as bright as possible.

Ok it took me till 1pm, to work myself up to getting into the back of the Transit, but apart from an enforced break of 30 mins, I was in there till just gone 5pm.

Not any major progress, I was happy to just let things happen on there own,

Hopefully if I can get in the transit again tomorrow, I can get a bit more done and once again, re-start to build my day into a satisfying day with plenty done.

I have had to come in as it was starting to get chilly on my spine, and I have no Tramadol till tomorrow evening :( :(

I will just have to hope that tomorrow is another warm day, or I may be forced into putting the oil radiator on.
