Hi Folks.... After a bad day yesterday, I am back in the transit today.
Altho I am on my own again, so I will be taking things real carefully and not rush anything,
As soon as I get the shakes, or start to feel ill, I will come in the house and rest.
As Matt is coming down today and I need to be sorta mobile and to help if required and I am able.
New Battery is pretty fully charged.
But i stick it on the charger anyway, so it will be ready for us later on.
Not really a job, I can do on my own, but I get it clamped to the side of the transit
Ready for when Lynne gets home and we can tweak it then.
Just thinking of best way to provide a strut to screw the board to and to fill this hole !
Not gonna be easy and I am sure it will eat into a lot of time....
only 2 screws thru the bed side panel are holding this in place at the moment,
As I am still not 100% happy with it...
Opps, gonna have try another idea, I suspect we just took to much wood away or it broke because it was not screwed to the floor ??
Using some off cuts whilst I try out a few ideas!
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Not sure yet, as the top and door upright are not screwed in place.
Gonna think about this a bit more, as I would like it to look nice and tidy at the same time.
A slight change of plan, and I think it looks better now.
Now all screwed together for now.
As it will all be coming apart once it is finished for sanding and painting.
This side is held in place by 2 right angle brackets, for now.
I am hoping to make a stronger fix into the body work of the transit.
This off cut will hide a lot of the space between to body and the 3 ply sheet.
I have taken a bit to much of one side!.
but we will see how it looks, as I know I have more odd bits of 2x1" batons laying around.
Now I just gotta find the bag of "T-Bolt Heavy Duty Metal" that I seem to have lost.
Then we can get the dodo insulation in place and start screwing the 3 ply sheet to the side of the van.
Lynne finally found these, that I had spent ages looking for !
but now I cannot find a drill big enough !
And Matt turns up to save me....
We soon have the new genuine fuel filter and new housing installed.
A few mins pumping and we have fuel pressure, so we try n start the engine.
Altho it occasionally try's to start, it just will not run.
we flattened the old battery, and we put on the new one, but still the same.
So it is sit down a talk time, what we feared the most is gonna happen.
we think there could be a few reasons, why the engine will not run.
1. Timing has slipped a tooth.
2. fuel pump and or Suction Valve (both of which I have).
3. We do not know what Kab Motors did to the engine, whilst they had it ???
Unfortunately Matt is away for the next 2 weeks, but he will arrange collection, before he goes back to work, so that the transit is there.
I will put all my spares in the back for him.
So we at least have another week to get on with the conversion.
