Today we are in Chasetown, for Sues celebration of life.
But because we had to leave the inn at 11am, even driving slowly we still has some 4 hours to kill.
So after stopping off at Morrisons for some cards and some snacks to get us through the day, we decided to head towards Chase water heaths railway station.
No locos or coaches we presume they are the other end of the line, but still loads of wagons most waiting to be rebuilt.
A very nicely kept station and lovely volunteer staff.
Were we had lunch at the railway station cafe.
Far better value that mcdonalds and our food n drinks bill came to just a tad more than 1 x big mac large meal!
and was so much more satisfying and filling.
Finally it was time to head of to the church,
again to be met by some very kind people who made sure I did not have to walk too far by opening up fire exit for me.
Just Lynne n me from family, and we sat there in the reserved seats looking a bit out of place, but soon Ni turned up and we had a good time catching up.
I had not seen Ni since Timothy's funeral (Lynne tells me as I do not remember much of the day at all).
Kim (Lynne's little sister) turns up in a bit of a panic, she had a flat tyre and had run to the church, but she got there in plenty of time.
Then the rest of the family arrive after being at the crematorium, and the service started, like most of these events, some laughter a few tears and a good meet n chats after the service.
A few times the strain of being around so many people started to affect me, but Lynne managed to calm me down, which is great news on that front.
But its getting late and I do not want to be travelling in the dark too much, so we went to the transit, only to find a car parked to close to driver door so I could not get in.
A quick message over the church microphone and a very apologetic person came out and moved his car for us.
Although he was apologetic I said he wasn't to know and I will be glad when we finally get our blue badge....
so we head off home not rushing but not slow either, and we got home around 7.30pm - totally shattered but well happy with myself.
That was tempered a bit when I got out of the transit and without any warning had a huge accident at the back of the van, I was totally soaked and went in to get sorted out wash n dry'd.
rather telling that, as it happens every time I get home !
All in all a great weekend, well happy with how I coped with all the driving, although we did not do much wandering about, that hopefully will come. Just over 300 miles driven and although we are very tired we are both in a far better place than when we left home.
BJ's Visit at Deanwater hotel on Saturday night was the highlight of our weekend, a huge thanks to our friend for coming to see us and spend time with us.
All being well we will see you at NABD National next year hopefully on CBRTIM :) :)
