18th February 2014 - Chedar Gorge

Published on 21 September 2022 at 05:28

Today finds us on the way to cheddar gauge.
The weathers not 100% but we do not care.
We have a good breakfast and we are on the road earlyish (for us)

on the way to Cheddar Gorge, we saw this building as we come up a hill,

Our thought immediately go to Timothy, as he would love to stop and explore here.....

Maz Edwards - Banwell Castle

Gemma Wait - I used to live in Cheddar. Banwell is a bugger to drive through....

Rachel Tinworth - I adore cheddar gorge ... It's full of memories of times there with my daddy xx enjoy xxx

and we just had to stop.
cheddar gauge CAN WAIT

and look around.

As we start to wander around I can feel Timothy come to join us (he is in the car all the time so he can be with us were ever we go).............

there is no sign of anyone around,

but after chatting to one of the locals,

They assured us it was ok to wander around.
and I can here Timothy chuckling with excitement in the background.

Lovely Mailbox

the pic just does not do this driveway justice,
but Timothy is running up n down it, sticking his head in everywhere

views just awesome

one of the ornate gates

this corner turret,

it all looks as if its had some restoration work done to a very high standard

and this opens to us as we round the corner
and Timothy runs off and disappears in fits of laughter n happiness..

We hope to come back later in the year when its open,

to see the gardens n sample there tea n cakes

Unfortunately,

we do not feel right just wandering around, so we head back to the car, and re start our journey to Cheddar Gorge.

We arrive at Cheddar Gorge and park in exactly the same spot.

that I woke up to when I picked up timothy's ashes.

to this day I still don't know how I got here.

but its turned in to a nice day, to wander around.

so we head of for a stroll,

unfortunately nothing more,

I just wanna see how far my sticks n me can go, before it gets too painful.

but with views like this

the last thing on my mind is

how much i can do

think Lynne took this pic

Shame its fenced of, or I would have wandered in and had a look around.

I am sure these smaller caves were open to the public free of charge when I was a kid back in the 1970's

Were to go ??

one of the streams from the hills - In full flow

saw these outside a craft shop , where I brought a little something for my workshop

We head up the pass

but unfortunately for me, I just can't carry on,

Whilst I rest.

I encourage Mrs C to go round the next corner

knowing full well its gonna be a while before she comes back

which gives me a chance to rest and generally look around me..

For once it great to be able to rest with views like these...

we see this start of a cave, As I really want to join in, we will have to wait till another time, when my Legs are not in so much pain..

Thats it folks for today, altho I am very dissapointed in just how little distance I walked, was encouraged by thefact that we both enjoyed our selves.

So when i get back home will start walking every other day or 2 - only about a mile or so, to try n build myself back up and shed some of this excess weight, that I know is causing the problems.

On our next visit to cheddar later this year we will try n do all seven of the attractions on the ticket (including jacobs ladder) in one day

Maz Edwards - very pleased you enjoyed it hun, each time you'll go a bit further xx

Stephen Osborn - Sure did darlin, Till the next time xxx
