19th January 2014 - House and Garden Update

Published on 6 October 2022 at 11:16

Well not really got anything planned today, but finally got fed up sorting thru BSH and listing them on Mags4NABD

So grabbed Michael (much to his disgust)

and said we are gonna start to move this wood pile this afternoon

Whilst we were moving this wood, we came upon this lovely marked butterfly, which we carefully covered up in a new location

Gary Strawbridge - He was there yesterday - I presumed he had flown away.

Nicola Ginge Armstrong - Beautiful Peacock Butterflies keep em warm to cold out yet although they are strong flyer's and could move on if they wanted to xx

Stephen Osborn - have created tunnels in the wood stack for them and have covered facing the wind and left other side open :)

Nicola Ginge Armstrong - Oh yeah they'll be fine xx usually feed on Buddleia and lay there eggs on Nettles I believe but you can Google them for info x

Stephen OsbornNettles is something my garden has in abundence

Lin Wolfy Thomson - they hibernate throu the winter hope u left him some where to go x

Stephen Osborn - Yes m8 - now secure and safe. - Butterflies mean a lot to us, as when Lynne's Mum died we had a butterfly that would knock on window to be allowed in house. The same with Timothy.

about an hour later we come to another one, altho smaller, this time we carefully moved it on its board to the new stack, and i created a tunnel around it.

Within a few moments the wings had folded up, and I presume went back in hibernation.

were these a sign from Timothy James Osborn I don't know, but there were tears in my eyes

Finally all the fence slating is moved,

just leaving the old frame and a few bits. I can remove when ever.

Gary Strawbridge - A mainly pink door. Shall we keep it to go with your new wet 'n' dry?

Stephen Osborn - Bloody looks horrible - better get rid of it before Mrs C commandeers it as a Woman's Cave

What a mess

it gets worse here!
All 3x2 that will be using inside the workshop, instead of buying 2x2 with money I don't have....

The new wood pile.

With the butterflies carefully rehoused, making sure they have loads of space to move around and get out come spring.

This lot is too wet n rotten,

but I am sure Jan will be grateful as it will make grate kindling, when dried

We find some plastic sheets and cover the wood pile up as best as we can

and start to stand wood against the plastic to stop it blowing away and keep the worse of the weather out and the butterflies safe

Still a large pile to sort thru and use up.

The Brown shed is now full up ! also the new side door am gonna fit to the workshop
