20th December 2022 - Various Hobbies - Lynne's Computer

Published on 21 December 2022 at 03:31

Hi all.

Have some spare time, so back to see if I can get Lynne's computer basically finished and test fired up.

I am still waiting on Winjows 10, but have Michael's old HDD installed, so can use that for testing with.

Right, I am hoping to get Lynne's Computer fired up today.

and make sure everything works as it should.

I have given the graphics card a good blowing thru with some compressed air earlier on, so any condensation should have evaporated by now.

So in goes the Graphics card and I find some screws to hold it in place.

The SATA leads are a bit close tho!

Time for a tidy up, so I cable tie the cables up as best as I could.

Altho I am not sure whether it's much of an improvement, but at least the airflow should be improved.

Michael's old keyboard, will do for testing and for now, as I do not think I have a spare hiding in the Computer Room.

Luckily Michael had the sense to put the Bluetooth into it's home and remove the batteries, as it has been in the Computer room for a least a few years!

I find some new batteries and plug the Bluetooth into a USB port.

Time to remove this mismatched memory.

As 2 x 8GB memory modules arrived in yesterday's post.

Lynne's not a serious gamer that requires fast everything, So I know these modules will do allow here to do everything she wishes.

So in they go.

I will keep these for few weeks, just to make sure replacement memory is ok.

Once I am happy, I will get them listed on eBay!

There are no backing plates, on Lynne's Computer, and I found these, whilst sorting thew my Computer Desk Draws :) :)

Damm need one more!, but looks better, plus will help making sure internal air flow is circulating properly and also help keep the dust out!

I found another backing plate later on..

Have got a monitor and found the SVGA lead (no HDMI port on this monitor.).

But I cannot find any kettle leads, so one of the pencilled in jobs tomorrow is to find a couple.

I am disappointed not to have got the computer running today, but it is not a big issue, It would just have been nice to get a job post it note of my screen!

I still have to test the seagate Firecuda 1TB M.2. stick, But it I can find some kettle leads tomorrow morning, Hopefully if the computer works as it should, I can plug it in and get the tests done that seagate want, and get it sent away and a replacement back.
