Hi Folks....
Today we get the transit back. :) :)
I have asked Zoe to take mum n me to go to collect the transit.
I would have asked Michael again, but I am expecting some items to arrive today that need to be signed for and I have some SOLD packages for the postman to collect.
So Zoe should be here around 9.30am.
Mean while, if you have been following these updates, you may remember that I brought a Portable Projector (for the Computer), but that parts were missing and the company refused to reply and I took action against them with the help of my bank (First Direct).
We got a new battery, but there is a joining 3-pin to 2pin extension lead that is missing.
I have some in my draws of computer leads, but they are too bulky to fit! and I cannot find a replacement online!.
And when I finally did it was way too expensive at £20.00 plus postage & VAT to import it!!!
So.....................................
I think I have found something that may solve the issue and we are keen to test it out....
and it arrived this afternoon
This little projector that has a battery inside and only cost £49.99 !!
Now to be honest at that price I was not expecting much ??
Nice solid lightweight case, with factory seal...
and opens to this well thought out storage bag.
This side has the stand and projector head.
It is very small and I am thinking this will be returned as a waste of money...
But the feedback on Amazon, keeps me intrigued.
Battery is dead as a dodo, so out comes the power/charging lead/supply.
Ok I am too far away from our screen but considering all the curtains are open I am impressed.
I have a play around, it hooks up to our wifi so easily.
and loads of settings in the setup menu.
But for now am just running it thru our freeview box.
And am pretty impressed.
The USB/power socket lead is a bit short, but I am sure I have longer leads around.
I will not be using the power supply at all in the transit as it runs 12volt from the mains adaptor via a USB lead.
But it does need a longer one, which I think I may have in my bag of assorted USB leads.
We were very impressed with this little projector, it is a good as the more expensive
one I had brought, but a lot smaller and has its own secure package to put it away and keep it safe.
For now I will keep them both and when we have the conversion done and are testing were we want the projector screen to go, we will test both. and then make up our mind which to keep.
Zoe has arrived earlier than expected and we are still not 100% dressed and having a nice brew, so we rush to get ready and off we go.....
Normally it seem's to take ages to get to Ken's workplace, but this journey just flew by and before I knew it we almost drove straight passed.
Unfortunately Zoe could not stay, but she did have a look around the transit at the work done,
whilst Ken dragged me around the van showing me all the jobs and how it was done.
Starting, with probably one of the easiest jobs of cutting out and installing the Sliding Door window.
The front roof panel sealant that was left was dug out and the metal checked, before using some new sealant to keep the weather at bay.
Unlike the passenger side, this sealant was still solid, but it had begone to crack.
So we had decided it may as well be all dug out, the metal underneath treated and resealed.
So I will not have to bother with it later one.
Now this windows, hides a lot of grief and extra work, that was responsible for a lost of the cost of the work being carried out at this visit.
From outside it looks as if if has always been there.
I will show you inside in a bit.
Now I am inside with Ken and he points out, that this leak was NOT from the old sealant, that he has replaced, but one of the door seals.
But he has sealed it, to stop any further ingress and further damage down the line.
Altho Ken reseated the seals, they still leaked a little odd drop.
So they were sealed up, as they are gonna be boarded over.
Another leaked, altho we could not see any holes, the smoke test revealed a small leak along this seam.
So it was sealed
There were multiple leaks along this seam, so it was split and sealant added between the panels and on the inside.
It does not leak anymore :) :)
in fact Ken decided to just seal all the panel seams, as it was easier and quicker, than dealing with individual leaks.
It looks a mess, but as it will soon all be covered up, it does not matter.
Hopefully in the next few days, we can get the dampening panels on, insulation and start boarding, at least we are ready to.
We will have to be careful as the water and the electric cables will be mostly behind the panels, so they do not take up valuable storage room.
But hopefully the panels will be screwed in place, in such a way as to be relatively easy to
get to the cables and pipes if we need to..
The kitchen window, from the inside.
We knew it would be low, compared to the kitchen unit, but that is no problem.
Can you spot the missing frame work ??
it is obvious Ken put a lot of thought and effort into this, especially as the frame he had to cut away was a stress brace for the back of the van!.
Luckily for me ha had a scrap van that he cut the required parts from to resolve the issue that was stopping the window fitting as it should.
One of our first jobs, once we get the radiator back in the back and warmed up, is to mask up the area and get some primer and I have some white spray that will finish it for now.
Again it will be covered up, so the colour mismatch will not be noticed..
I forgot to take a pic of the roof air vent, so will do that tomorrow.
The roof rack is huge, it does need some minor cutting about, for the air vent.
Ken has the gutter mounts, but cannot find the parts that bolt it all together, but he has a smaller rack, so he has the templates.
As it will not fit in the back we decided that Ken would make the brackets up, give me a phone and I will go n spend the day with him, I can work on the inside, whilst he is doing the roof rack..
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, just in time for me to mount the solar panels.
and I must admit that I was impressed, especially with the side conversion he had to make to get the window in by the kitchen!.
Also If I have the funds and have brought the under floor water tanks he will fit them and plumb them into the back for me, again that will just cost me labour and a little for any sealant/paint he uses.
Let's just say Ken has got me believing I can trust him, and the feeling is a nice one for me.
The Black Dog, started to loose it's grip on me as we drove home, No he has not left me, but his grip is a fair bit lighter than it was yesterday!.
