Hi Folks.... after another few bad days hopefully today will get something done.
Altho my mind and thoughts are with Dave Jordon and family n friends today, as he starts on his new journey, I will try n get some more work done on the conversion.
Mainly because if I just sit here, I will fall to bits so I am hoping it will help me get thru today.
Altho if anything like the last few days I spent on the conversion, I have got so little done as to not really be worth while.
But somehow even with the engine issues not resolved, I have o try n keep the faith that I will get to Scotland!.
Spent all day trying to get thru the door of the house, unsuccessfully!
Hopefully Lynne will be up to coming into the van for a few hours when she gets home, after a lovely cuppa tea....
FORD TRANSIT 2.4 TIMING FRONT COVER KIT CRANKSHAFT SEAL AND GASKETS
New timing cover and gaskets have arrived, so that when Matt comes back from a much needed holiday.
One of his first jobs will be to check to make sure the timing has not jumped a tooth.
This set took some finding, and I had almost given up and was gonna order separately.
Which would have cost me nearly double what this kit cost me....
FORD TRANSIT CAMSHAFT SENSOR 2.0 2.2 2.4 TDCi MK6 MK7 2000 - 2014 BRAND NEW
Whilst searching my permanent search on ebay, I came across this new camshaft sensor.
which I ordered after following similar posts on transits groups, with people suffering the same issues as me.
for just over £10.00 I think it is worth a try.
FOR FORD TRANSIT MONDEO CRANK CRANKSHAFT SENSOR ALL 2.0 2.2 2.4 TDCi MK6 MK7
Again came across this whilst searching for the timing cover set.
again some people have found that they replaced this unit and it solved there problems.
Again at just under £15.00 It is worth a try.
Altho I am not confident of the sensors solving the issue, As the transit is gonna be 20 odd miles away and I have no transport, I am getting these to be installed in the hope of speeding things up, if they prove to be faulty....
Multibao FORScan OBD2 Adapter OBDII diagnostic for Windows, Car Diagnostic Coding Tool OBDII Auto Scanner With HS-CAN MS-CAN Switch for Ford Series Vehicles
After working once, the bluetooth unit stopped working, so I returned it for a refund.
And ordered this cabled version instead.
only a few quid difference in price.
I hope to get to try it out today or tomorrow.
13Pack HSS Twist Drill Bit Set Metric M35 Cobalt Steel High Speed Steel Titanium Coated Drill Bit Tool Extremely Heat Resistant with Straight Shank 1.5mm-6.5mm for Drilling Tool Wood, Metal & Plastic
I brought this set, because I could not find mine and need the 4.5 & 5mm bits urgently.
I suspect the old drill bits will turn up, but you can never have enough.
Basics Cordless drill 12V 1 Battery
I was looking for another battery for my 2 drill/screwdriver units, as sometimes have found that both batteries would be on charge at the same time.
and whilst going thru the batteries - best i could find was £11.99
Then I found this pair of brand new (unwanted gifts) for £19.99 (freepost)
I could not refuse at that price .......
So now we own 4 of these units so will leave 2 at home and have 2 in transit toolbox.
FORD TRANSIT MK6 2.0 2.4 AIR INTAKE PRESSURE MAP SENSOR.
Another find, All these sensors, I had planed on replacing once the transit had reached 100,000 miles or winter service.
Today's main focus will be here, today.
As we try and get the table cupboard for fridge/freezer finished.
Also hoping to get the side of the van insulated and boarded in place.
We will keep going till we get stuck for something or run out of bits n timber.
Just used a bit of 3 mm ply off-cut as a template.
It turns out we do not need a fold-able table flap.
Less work for me and less 9mm ply we need to buy....
But I cannot find a 16mm drill bit, so ordered one that should be here tomorrow.
So we move to another area of teh conversion.
So we start on the 2nd roof panel,
First we need to add some framework, starting with a Spacer 2x1" timber in place, so that we have a straight line all across the van.
another 2x1" length of timber is cut, this time all the way across the van and is screwed into the bathroom wall and the spacer piece of 2x1" timber
we have cut out a long piece of the DODO insulation and have started gaffa taping it in place.
Finally its all stuck in place.
But as much s we search we cannot find any suitable lengths of 3mm ply!
so we gonna have to move onto another job.
As it is sunny and dry, we have moved the 2x1" and 3x2" batons outside.
This has made a huge difference and we can now get to areas we couldn't before....
So we move to the bathroom area.
And we pull out the framework we made ages ago.
Now we have teh timber floor boards in place, the upright is slightly too long.
Out comes the jigsaw
and in it goes, it takes some bashing with the wooden persuader, but finally it goes in square.
We screw it to the bathroom wall
and thru the cross framework, thru the ceiling.
The top is now solid.
we have screwed the bathroom door frame to the Camper batteries.
Now we just have to think later on how we gonna finish the framework.
Lynne sets up the work bench and the saw outside, as we have no room inside the van.
Plus it is nice n sunny out there....
we cut the 2 uprights for the door frame.
At this stage the door is slightly bigger than the bathroom framework as we will be planing it down to fit later on.
we have cut 4 of the width frames for the door.
We need 2 more, when we find more 3x2" timber long enough.
But for now we have enough to build the door frame.
All in all a good day today, we got plenty done.
Just a shame that we are starting to run out of materials!
But we still have enough timber laying around to keep going.
Frustrating as it would be nice to have completed the jobs above, but until the transit is up n running again, there is nothing we can do about replenishing supplies.
