Good Evening folks.
As well as other things, I have been doing today (26th Oct 2022) is pottering around my computer.
As I depend on it daily and spend a lot of time on it, to have it still in bits is hard, as I have to work around other things, that I need the Computer for....
As usual today, I have been pottering on several things, at a time, so these updates are put together, but in reality there is 7 plus ours spread between the pics...
Right lets see how things went today, on my Computer.
This is the new SATA PCI-E card, I have a persistent error on Boot up, which is making boot times unacceptably long!
But it did not cure the issue, even with a fresh install of Ubuntu, so that's that eliminated.
So I am gonna have to look elsewhere, so when I get a chance I will carry on researching the issue online.
According to the Ubuntu Forums and others it is a common issue with Ubuntu's latest releases. It affects 22.04.1 & 22.10.1 releases and so far no one has managed make a working Patch.
My Old Sata Expansion card, sadly the fan has packed up!
And was the main reason that I started to do a service on my computer as the hard drives would slow down that were attached to it.
Its a weird fan as well, I just need to find me tape measure and get its dimensions and I can then try and buy a replacement.
I am not sure at this stage, whether I will use the card, alongside with the new one, or I may just sell it off....
It took me a few hours of research and trial n error, but I finally got rid of the top 3 errors :) :)
This lot took even longer to resolve.
In the end I had to admit defeat as everybody else I know has and reinstalled Ubuntu.
Now when I do these installs of latest Ubuntu releases, I like to strip the computer down to the bare bone :) :)
I got caught out when I was learning Ubunto and installed onto the wrong SSD Drive and lost everything!
Every time I have to re-boot, weather I have been trying to speed up Ubuntu, make it more stable than it already is, or to remove on add a bit of computer hardware.
This dammed error rears its ugly head and it causes the computer to hang, for over 30 seconds as it tries to resolve the conflict !!
$ bloody times i re-installed Ubuntu and the last time, I feel as if I have finally got it right.
Personally I was quiet happy with 19.10.4 as It was rock solid and I had tweaked it to death so it was superbly fast...
But it was coming to end of life (Ubuntu release 2 versions when they do a release. 1 is for 5 years lifespan and the other is shorter, but it gives those who like to get into the heart of Ubuntu and try n make things even better).
As usual when I do research I loose large chucks of the day, until I either find a resolution or have to admit defeat for a short while.
