We left it there and went back to get on with stripping out the old wheel
Luckily the rain had stopped an hour or so ago and the slabs were dry
Could this be the replacement front wheel for Vincent ?
All the way form some friends in the good old USA.
Sure is, This wheel will give Vincent a new look.
in the package is the original axle bolt, spacers and nut
and in this other even bigger box ?
its the newish tyres I brought on ebay for £99.00 inc delivery
Approx 300 miles on them - seller went to white wall tyres
The front is to small for Vincent.
so will be on Ebay soon and hopefully cover the cost of a brand new front tyre
Norton Commando - Rear tyre size is good to go M8 ?
Stephen Osborn - Sure is m8, only done around 300 miles.
Norton Commando - A shame the front tyre isn't the same you need. Hopefully it will sell fast.
Stephen Osborn - fingers crossed m8.
Can't afford a front tyre so hoping this one will get me a long way there
Norton Commando - I had a set of cobra tyres on the triumph thunderbird. They lasted me 8k miles. I think that is good for a motorcycle tyre
Stephen Osborn - dunno what this will do, hopefully more but we will see
The covers off )
Paul's bike stand is underneath
and its time for the rear wheel bolt to come off
As Steve Chalky White had already removed this a while back because it was the wrong way around,
I knew it was just gonna slide out
Norton Commando - Are you saying some mechanic put the bolt in reverse of factory designation ?
Stephen Osborn - well more like previous owner but yep
Norton Commando - oh, some nut playing mechanic. Hahaha
This kind of stuff always amazes me. I bet they used the fit the wrong pieces together on a jigsaw puzzle. Hahaha
and out comes the rear wheel
How these broken spokes happened is in Trips out Album.
The only thing I need from this lot is the disc to go on the mag rear wheel
mmmmmmm
The more I see the worse it seems to get!
more spokes missing.
I think we were very lucky not to be spat from Vincent and end up in a hedge!
It just goes to show, just how important road craft and experience, helps saves injury's or lifes.
Huge shame that since the 1980's the sheep disagree !
Even than I thought !
Paul did mention about cutting the rim off to sell on,
So I may just get the angle grinder out to the remaining spokes later on and clean n list it
Norton Commando - If the inner hub is still good. Maybe you can sell that also
Stephen Osborn - not sure it is. I will inspect and see
It starts to rain and Paul's prepared with one of those quick erect gazebo things
Altho we didn't need it in the end - Typical
The Disc is off
Now we just waiting on Kingsway to phone me
Paul decided he would nip home to get on with other things, and I would let him know when I have collected the wheel.
then Tomorrow hopefully a dry morning would see the replacement rear wheel on the bike
