28th March 2011 - Kurgan - Suzuki GS1000E - Custom

Right had a few hours to kill, so decided that I am gonna be selfish for a few hours and try n get my own bike back on the road.

The bloody thing still would not start - altho a squirt of Easy start and it fires up lovely.

So I finally have lost my patience with these new carbs,

it was money thrown down the drain !.

So I find the old Carb bodies and take outside and Liberally spay with carb cleaner.

Now I know these carbs internally even after cleaning are not as clean as the useless replacements,

but at least it fired up on them!

the replacement carbs on the right

I start to strip em down and put the parts in the old carbs that came with the donor bike.

spaying and cleaning everything before fitting

no.2 carb flooded so gently adjusted the tab minutely

and finally all done - ready to go back on Kurgan

and on goes the Bell Mouths that apparently it is jetted for.
Then I notice that altho the choke mech is nice n free, the bit that goes into each carb is seized solid.

I have tried moving them with mole grips but with no joy.

they are also all missing there circlips.
Have sprayed them liberally with WD40 and will leave over nite.....
Did it start ??
