Hi Folks.
Finally the replacements fans have arrived for Timothy's Graphic's card!
They seem to have taken ages to arrive, but that is progress for you!.
And no it wasn't sent by Royal Mail, which is even more confusing as to why the long shipping time.
But it does not matter now they are here now and that is all that matters.
Lets Get Timothy's Graphics Card down and hopefully no damage was done....
I had put them that safe, that it took me 15 mins to find the Card and old fans!!
1st Job is to remove the screws, I am hoping the plastic has not got brittle, so I am taking my time and not forcing anything.
Nope I do not suffer from OCD !
I was just taught that screws, bolts, nuts, should go back to where they have been done up.
There must be a reason my Granddad taught me that, as he wouldn't waste his time if there was no reason.
Time to remove the old fans, after disconnecting the leads, from each other.
And they just fall thru
Taken pics, so I know where the wiring goes, and hopefully a trouble free installation...
But knowing my Luck.............................................................
Nice packaging on the outside,
But just a small bubble wrap bag with all 3 fans inside loosely rubbing together !
A pet hate of mine, is lack of proper packaging and
protection of fragile items Like these.
And they were not cheap at just under £30.00 for them, another few pence would not only afforded more protection, but keep buyers like me happy!
But then Sellers rarely read comments left on there feedback page, so they obviously not bothered about customer concerns/satisfaction.
I had similar issues with some fans I brought for my computer from Amazon, so I marked them down on packaging and told them why! Amazon sent me a message saying they have deleted my feedback, so I refuse to leave anymore on there site!.
It was not as if I was rude, I explained my reasons, but I just block that company and spend my pennies elsewhere...
Now that I can get to all areas of the fans plastic shrouding, I give it another good clean including the parts I could not before, when it was assembled...
That looks loads better.
Before throwing away these knackered fans I remove the main cable, just in case the new one is not long enough.
The fans are now in the trash....
And it is time to start to put the new fans into the old bezel.
crews are just screwed in until it naturally stops, I do not want to strip the thread.
with the screws going into the same holes they came out off.
In goes the 2 other fans and screwed into place :) :)
Gonna have to stop soon, as my back is playing up.
But if I can finish this, then it is a natural place to stop.
Thats all 3 fans screwed into place, now to connect it all together :) :)
Now I notice that the link lead in about 1" shorter than the original one...
So I move the fans about a bit so the cables from the fans are all pointing towards the socket on the graphics card where this lead plugs into and it looks as if it should reach now :) :)
It's a good job that I hope it fits as the original lead has different connectors on it :( :(
so it will not fit :( :(
But I think I may have a use for that lead on my computer :) :)
Right gonna ask Michael if he will move the TV table and put my stool there for me, So I can remove his old Graphics card and re-insert Timothy's card and give it a good testing....
Time to fit the fan bevel back onto Timothy's Graphics Card.
So got everything ready....
Only to find out I have the fans in back to front !!
Pissed of with myself for making this silly mistake!
I should no better....
I have put it away until I calm myself down, then I will strip it back down and put it back together the right way....
Right backs well rested (I hope) and its time to take the fans all apart again and put them in so the cables face the right ways.
Not a hard job, but my mind kept wandering all over the place, and I do not know why.
The dam wiring will not stay in place, so I give up and get ready to assemble the fan unit back onto the graphics card.
It's kinda clever how it all goes together and just how much stronger it is as a hole unit.
Mind you My king sized fingers struggled at time, unlike the chinese who put these cards together, with there little fingers.
In goes the screws, if they made the plastic tabs any weaker, they would be hopeless.
It was bad enough trying to screw the parts together, just for the tabs to move away from the screws !
Eventually I got them all together
A quick look around the graphics card, push some of the wires under the plastic shield
Had to find the old cable, as the plastic guide had came from the motherboard.
And it did not want to go back!
but everything's connected together now, so it depends on Michael if he wants it fitting tonight or Tomorrow ???
