Hi Folks.
Altho a bit weary and my head feeling like it weight a 1000 Tonnes, it is time to get back into the transit.
Sales have been quiet during the week, with only 2 items sold since Sunday.
This has left my Bank account very low, so far it is not affecting the conversion,
but..........................
I am starting to run out of things, that will means some jobs, do not get finished or even started.
I am hoping if this happens, to be able to carry on with other jobs, but we will see how things pan out.
Jobs pencilled in till Sunday (when busy with other things about the house, so probably will not have time to get on with the conversion).
1. Finish the frame work around the portaloo.
2. Add cross batons to bathroom/kitchen wall.
3. add sound proofing/insulation to bathroom/kitchen wall.
4. find position for sink in bathroom.
5. add extra supports to mount the sink.
6. Panel the bulkhead battery frame work.
7. Area next to passenger door, needs washing and going over with wire wool.
8. Finish adding sound proof pads
9. Insulate it.
10. Clean old original panels
11. Glue extra Insulation in the inside of the panels.
12. Paint the panels
13. put them back were they belong.
Double Bonus job, to have worked out and cut the bed frame & have it mounted!
An awful amount of work to do, but if I can achieve it it would take back some of the time I have lost so far...
Ok This item is not strictly about the conversion, but is important to me as without it, I cannot use the computer, watch films, video chat to Lynne.....
The internal battery does not hold it's charge for more than a few days :( :(
Which means for me it is no good, as the plan was to use the battery at nighttime, to save me using the battery's power.
So I opened a case with the eBay seller, and said if they ship me a spare battery, I will fit it
and close the case or I can return it to them for me to get another one.
But they decided to offer me £9.99 refund and I keep.
On looking at the price for a battery & on Youtube to see if anyone had taken a Burger projector apart (did not find one)
I replied I will accept £29.99 refund and I will close the case.
I have taken it apart totally and the battery is soldered in place and has no numbers on it :( :(
So I reassembled it - checked that it was still working.
After thinking about it, once the refund comes thru I will just bu an external battery pack and use that instead.
I found this on eBay, and looking on YouTube, seems to have mixed feedback, but after contacting several people on plus & negatives side, I decided for less than £30.00 I would give it a try.
This is purely a test to see just what it is capable of and whether there claims are true or not.
If it does not perform, I will ask for a refund!
I will need to fit an isolate switch in place, as this unit will not work on a combined charging system.
The wiring instructions, I had to ask for!!
So if anyone has brought this kit and needs instructions please message me via the blog at bottom of this page, and I will upload a link.
The panel is help on with suckers so will fit on widow screen or drivers/passenger windows when parked up.
and will be connected to the bulkhead battery's.
To start with via another isolate switch, the 2 Solar Panels I have will be connected to this
bank of battery's (as I cannot afford the 2nd bank of batteries at this point).
So at this point there will be 3 options for keeping the bulk head batteries charged as best we can, with the main option being from the alternator as we drive around.
Will it work ? will it fail ??
Updates when I get around to trying it out
Once I have finished in the bathroom.
Altered the kitchen carcus and bolted into place.
And got the bed frame made and bolted into place,
I will be making a start on the wiring.
I am trying not to think about it, as it is scaring the shit out of me, as never done anything like this before.
After loosing most of the day to a power cut, I have a lot to do, but not all the time I had planned to do it in!!
Whilst waiting for the power to come back on, I sat n looked this area over.
And a plan started to form,
so with the sliding door wide open to provide the light, I got down to work.
So using 1 of my clamps, I set to screw the legs to the top frame.
This time, screwing thru the top.
That is why I used the bracket, besides some extra rigidity :) :)
And I soon have all 4 legs attached.
I do have 2 more legs, if i thing it needs them!
For now I just put it in place
It all moves when I put the portaloo in place and there is not enough space to get the portaloo to line up with its marks !
Bummer, the portaloo will not fit inside the baton on the other side !
So much for taking my time and being careful with my measuring!!
So I remove the offending baton for now, and I need to rethink things thru....
I carefully put the baton back in place and sit on the portaloo to make sure there is still enough room.
Which there is.
I get the sink out and put at an ideal height for me to use, and mark the bathroom/kitchen frames.
Then I put the sink back in it's box to keep it safe.
And I am forced in doors by an accident, and after a wash n change I quickly check my emails, answer a few questions from prospective buyers and will be back out shortly.
I have cut 2 3x2 into 21 /12cm lengths for the batons where I hope to mount the sink.
I will be doubling up the batons, for extra strength and to give support to the rear of the sink.
Plus the kitchen unit will be bolted into this frame work.
Now I know the measurements I have cut several lengths of the 3x2 to the length required
Damm I ran out of 6cm length screws the other day !!
So I use some 9cm length screws and cut of the exposed parts.
For the middle partition, I will have to use brackets top n bottom.
For the top I will use these right angle brackets
and the bottom the triangle brackets.
The upright nearest the side of the transit there is no room to drill and use screws, but the other end, I will screw thru the upright as well.
Just as I had finished this, Lynne opens the door and comes in.
Just in time to help me with the best location for the bathroom sink.
Now this was always gonna be a compromise, as to fit everything were we wanted it, the bathroom is as small as I can get away with....
But we finally find a place for it to go and I can now get on and get the cross members cut and in place.
I am hoping to hide the water pipes behind the panelling, so I think I have some pipe lagging down the workshop.
