Hi Folks.
Not sure what is gonna happen today, so I will be playing it by ear.
I am hoping to be able to spend some time working on the conversion, if possible as I seem to have found a sweet spot working wise.
Yes progress is slow, maybe too slow, but progress is visible and that is the important thing for me.
Ok in time a lot of the work will be covered over and no one will be any the wiser just what we have done, but we will always have this photo album, which will remind us, when we need to remember.......
Bit of a false start today, the drill/screwdriver battery went flat! and it was not were I left it!
And I lost the plot big time.
It took me over an hour to get myself calmed down enough to go back outside and start to potter around in the transit.
I was drilling the screws out and I noticed this board was totally knackered!
So it is gonna need to be replaced, luckily we have some spare 9mm 3 ply boarding.
Altho I had earmarked it in for another job, the sheets primary role, was to be there if i needed it and allow me to keep going whilst the shops are shut.
Meanwhile, Lynne is using the angle grinder to grind the broken screws flat :) :)
and I was looking at the board and thinking what to do with it...
and how i was gonna do what I want to do..
So I slide out the spare 9mm floor board, and line it and and clamp it in place against the replacement board.
And draw a line around the old board.
It is not exactly straight, but enough for us to work with...
I am not in the mood for sawing today, so I put cutting disc in the angle grinder and we we soon have the replacement board cut out.
Lynne test fits the replacement board and it all fits as it should.
Now we screw thru the replacement board into the spacer blocks, after filling the gaps with Gorilla glue :) :)
and nit the screws up tight.
and we have found another leak, above were we have the radiator at the moment !!!
Just what I need!
But it is just a weep from a plastic bung in the roof,
So fingers crossed that should not be too expensive to fix.
But I am starting to get worried, with all these leaks, the bill is rising !
I just hope it is not too much. Hopefully we will find out next week....
We glue n screw the last risers to get rid of the step and create some small storage areas.
In goes the projects we have been working on the last few days.
But one problem was screwing the whole lot into the van floor.
It took well over an hour, but finally we have 4 screws in place and the whole project is rock solid now.
Time for a cuppa :) :)
when we get back out in about 3/4 hour, we will be tidying up the front area, butting some more strips for the floor, from old good bits of flooring, and depending on the time, we may start measuring the replacement floor board, ready to be fitted tomorrow, if I can get into the transit :) :)
Will be great to finally get this area all done and looking nice. We will put back the rubber tiles for now, to protect the new floor, until it is sealed and we finally make a start on the bulk head and the bathroom.
It is time for a mega cleanup, before we can carry on!.
As we have no where to store items at the moment, its do the best we can for now.
But it means we cannot drive at the moment, which is a pain in the arse........
But then again, if plans go well in the next 3-4 days, that issue may be partially resolved.
Already looking a lot better, but still gotta move the rad and toilet, probably into the front when we go out there tomorrow.
As we will be needing all the space we can get.
It would also be great if it is a dry day tomorrow, so we can move all the wood outside till we have the jobs planned completed.
This floor board, that we cut to fit the other day, still does not sit quiet right.
There is a ridge at the bottom of the bulkhead that the floor board is resting on..
I was a bit unsteady on my feet whilst cutting this board, so not a very straight cut!.
But the floorboard now sits as it should.
All squared off with the side of the van & the other remaining floorboard.
I have marked the floor were the board will sit and found some old screws, that Lynne can cut off with the grinder :) :)
Lynne has found another bloody leak!
Not to bad, I hope it will be a case of removing the plastic plug, cleaning everything up and with some sealant put it back!...
We have been busy salvaging some good parts from the old damaged floor boards, witch levels the transit floor nicely.
As well as using as much of the old wood as we can, but the damaged parts will be burnt.
Things are starting to come together now, that's project 1,2 & 3 almost completed and hopefully tomorrow will see a start on projects 4,5 & possibly 6 !
Lynne is removing the old unusable bits of the old floorboards, to outside the back door & tomorrow in daylight they will be moved to the growing pile of wood to be burnt in the garden fire drum...
I think Lynne may be hinting that I need to go down the workshop and do some more jobs on CBRTIM whilst she has fun burning rubbish and helping me when I need it.
We use the only good bit of the old floorboard to mark out the sliding door side pillars.
we are making a small change where the sliding door it, by adding 2cm closer to the sliding door.
We are discussing plans on how to sort this floor board and get it trimmed and laid out, when the board slips and she cuts her fingers :( :(
Another good solid day pottering in the Transit, Lynne promises not to point out any more leaks :) :)
And we hope tomorrow, will see us have another solid day..
