Hi Folks.
It has been a while, since my last update on my Computer...
Before I start,
OK I am working on Lynne's computer, but it is my Seagate firecuda 2tb M2 stick, that I am trying to sort and Seagate's software only works on bloody winJows!!
I will be working with Seagate's help desk during one of my breaks, as altho windows recognises it, Seagates Software does not ????
This was part of a reason that Lynne got an upgrade, and this morning she says she is very happy with it..
As I have said before, I am taking my Computer with me, to Scotland.
But to reduce the power requirements all the hard drives have been replaced with M2's and a couple of SSD's. ( I am hoping to remove even those as surplus to requirements).
I have considered downgrading my graphics card, so that I can replace my current 1300 watt Power Supply, but the cost, just does not justify the means.
My power supply is new and only takes 1 watt extra an hour that a 850 watt, so it may well be livible with.
Once I have sorted the Firecuda and Seagate are finally happy for me to return it and give me a new one, I will then be able to carry on with my maintenance build, that has gone on for far too long.
I have already cut down the time I spend on facebook to about 10 mins most days. from 3-4 hours a day, so I have saved a lot of time there (which is currently being spent on teh transits conversion).
eBay takes up a good 3 hours most days, and I need to cut that down to about an hour, for when I go away.
I will be taking all the items listed and some small items to list whilst I am in Scotland, so I can list on rainy days & and poss a bit in the evenings.
But I will not be listing the amount of items like I have at the moment, as I am hoping to be outside and each week gradually walking further n further.
I still have most of my hard drives to remove the software from, These I hope to take with me and copy them across whilst in Scotland and then list them. to help keep me there for longer (well that is the plan).
Ok I am still on Lynne's Computer.
The Seagate Fircuda M2 stick is installed on here motherboard, and I am trying unsuccessfully to get the seagate software to recognise it !
So I will leave it for now, I have all the software there help desk wanted me to install, so fingers crossed when I come in for a enforced break, We can resolve the issue quickly.
I have washed up and the postie has not been yet, so I thought I would contact Seagate help desk and see if we can get them to admit that the M2 sick is faulty and replace it under warranty!!
Within 10 seconds I am in contact a few questions to answer, but then I am used to that as been a member with them since the mid 90's.
I explain the basics and I leave her to go back thru my records and see what has been done last year.
Can you install this and run it - Beat ya to it,
what do you want to know ?
Disk 1 is the issue, she would not believe me when I said it only says 2MB free!
That is the useless size from the 2TB ??
Can you run the tests please.
I was ready for her, as I had already done it earlier and sent it to here...
Can you highlight disk 1 right click and format it !
Nope all I get is this !!
I said even if I goto the bottom window and right click on the drive, just about everything you will ask me to do is greyed out!!
Same here,!
Can you convert to MBR Disk.
No problem,
now only 1MB and no partition and cannot create one either ?
So she gets me to use disk part, no problem I said
There was silence on the line and then I could here whispers and the word "impossible"
So I said what now, you have exhausted everything on your list, she was surprised at that, then I let on I have been a member or seagate since mid 90s and when working on servers often would contact the helpdesk and was on first name terms with most of the help desk!.
Oh - was all she said, our records do not go back that far.
So after 2 1/2 hours on video chat I gotta wait on email in next 24 - 48 hours.
Why I ask,
It's an expensive item and I need to get clearance!.
yep I know it is an expensive item I had to pay for it!!
Seagate's helpdesk used to be so good and very quick - not anymore sadly. I always buy seagates if I can, but I am not sure anymore if a simple warranty repair is going to be so much aggro!!.
