Today we plan to go n walk in one of Timothy's Favourite woods.
Little did we know just how much trouble, we were gonna cause or how much trouble Donald & me were gonna be in trouble with our wives !!
View from our log cabin porch.
Curtis Dance - looks lovely :)
Stephen Osborn - really was and great to open the curtain to every morning.
Ok more exercise as have to walk down slope to cabin. Will do me some good :)
View from settee in cabin of Loch & Mountains
View from drive way from were our cabin is the slope is about 1 in 9 !
First gear ONLY!
Zoe Osborn Michael Osborn Emma Osborn Lynne Osborn and Val.
Looking at the tail board, with Donald and Val showing us Timothy's various fav places.
We decided to split up and meet somewhere up the trail.
We decide to wander the woodland path
View from were Sally the Seat is parked
View from Airgh Fhionndail car park
Tim Loved the Mine at the top of this mountain, but we have no plans to try for the mine today!
Michael - starts his stone collection
Donald telling stories about Timothy, made walking so much easier ( and was to get us into so much trouble later on! )
Zoe
What views tease us onwards
Butterflies - there's loads of them, this one just sat there as I got camera out
one of the bridges and waterfalls
At this point the tracks still wide enough to walk two abreast
So off we head, Donald n me, were taking our time and stopping often
The tree across the path
Another bridge, this one the floors rotten and flexes as I walk on it, but we rest here for 10 mins or so
I find Donald a walking stick, from the debris on the floor.
the end of the tree line.
I utter the same words as Tim did apparently
Donald says we are very close now...
The tracks a bit messy in places.
As you may have noticed, since we have left the trees, we are taking more rests and for longer periods.
But with the views we have who could blame us...
Donald says just around the bend we will be able to see the mine we just look at each other and altho no words are spoken, we both decide its stupid not to got o the mine
The Fee Donald lead mine on the slopes of Sgurr Dhomhnuill remains
Lynne, Michael and Val
Val and Lynne
Donald and Me are soon left behind, but it don't matter as we are chatting away merrily
The path
Norton Commando - What a path it looks to be. Adventure around every twist and turn.
The girls went down this path, and Donald and me carried on up the trail.
Donald and me meet up with the rest of them, they had been to the tree line and they say a trees fallen across the path.
Here is a huge misunderstanding between us, Donald n me said we were gonna carry on and try for the mine, everyone else thought we were going to got o the fallen tree!
Yep we got to the other side
The trees are slowly starting to thin out and give us some fantastic views
Camera is on full zoom, and still don't due justice about how far below us that stream is
Norton Commando - Looks like 2 hour hike.
Stephen Osborn - took us over 5 hours but then again I fat n unit as well as slow and Donold's 78
Norton Commando - It would of been as hard for me trying to keep up with you
As we come out the tree line
Just breath taking views!
Makes the hike worth every minute...........
The view behind us back to the tree line
Luckily I have several spare batteries for the camera and spare cards :) :)
The water was icy cold and refreshing..
Awesome
You can just see a single tree approx middle of pic, that's in the Mine Timothy loved so much..
But first, we still have some walking to do.....
Donald taking a well earned rest and enjoying the views.
Altho hes seen them plenty of times before they don't get boring, just even more to see and notice
Donald's nearly there and this spurs me on
We have arrived, ruins of old building..
We sit down and Donald starts to talk about Tim and what his thoughts were about this place.
I just sat there in stunned silence at what Donald was saying.
I am glad this trip wasn't planned as not sure I would have made it,
altho It made me suffer for several days afterwards,
I am very glad I did it on the first day of the holiday.
Norton Commando - What a incredible adventure so far.
Donald and me both had tears in our eyes as we sit and enjoy the views
I can see why Timothy James Osborn loved it so much here, I just wish we had been able to have been here with him when he was still alive.
Norton Commando - He still walks every step with you. Every where every day.
Donald taking a well earned rest and enjoying the views.
Me resting with thoughts of Timothy James Osborn running uncontrollably thru my mind.
Norton Commando - Your the Best Tour Guide on vacation.
But all to soon its time to head back, as we look back, we look at each other and neither of us wants to leave as we knew it would be the last time either of us would be able to come here :(
Both Donald and myself were very subdued as we leave and we keep stopping and looking back!
The mines nearly outa view, and we look round one more time and say our fond fare wells..
At this point we both turn to face the mine wave to Timothy James Osborn and to thank him for guiding us there..
Norton Commando - GODS BLESSINGS Go With You.
A last look before we head back into the trees and a 2nd and prolonged final waves to Timothy James Osborn
Our first resting point on the way down.
Norton Commando - Very nice view.
We rest up at the fallen tree.
Norton Commando - The stories that tree could tell.
Michael's coming towards us - apparently we are both in very bad books with our wives !
Norton Commando - Tell them you were listening to a tall tail from the ole tree. LOL
We both got real hard telling of from our wives, but at the car park, altho we are very sorry for the distress caused by the misunderstanding we don't regret the journey.
It turns out the trip to the Mine is just over 10 miles each wAY!
No wander My legs are extremely painful and i am hobbling very slowly
but will deffo do it again.............
We both came down in far greater peace within ourselves, than before we started the day out.
Norton Commando - It was a well worthed hike. Just to mill over good times and memories.
