A bit late starting today, and to be honest both Strawbs n Myself are feeling a bit jaded,
but we are down the workshop,
so we will get on
These wall linings have to come down again
Also gotta remove the Fire proof polystyrene sheets
that's better, now we can make a start on this corner of the workshop
We cut two bits of some old plastic tubing, That we found laying around.
We will be feeding wires thru them
Norton Commando - Great Idea.
Stephen Osborn - just gotta get some sealant at for the outside, or I may just use a bit of expanding foam
this 38amp wire comes in handy,
its actually an extension lead on a drum I used to use when I was Djing in Marquees,
but it was always a real pain in the arse to winding it up as there was way too much wire on it, so a large chunk of it will replace the lawn mower extension lead from brown shed to the workshop.
First tube threaded thru an existing gap on the corner of the workshop and is clamped in place.
This wire is for the water pump
This mess is always in our way, but gotta put up with it for a bit longer
Norton Commando - I'm sure you'll be happy the day it's over with and out of your way for good.
Stephen Osborn - sure will
we fix the 2nd tube in place and feed the 38amp wire thru the workshop wall.
Its not pretty at the moment.
The blue wire is fed thru the brown shed and used the plug from the old orange lead for now. (need to get rcd box in there soon)
The brackets are just there to stop any movement
and then I fill up the gaps with expanding foam from the outside.
I will leave for a few weeks and on a dry day trim it back.
The front and this side of the workshop is gonna be covered with a load of fence slating I just happen to have laying around and will tidy the outside up loads
we fitted some 2x baton in the top to help fill the gap and the screw the outside onto.
the original baton for some reason stopped some 12" short of the roof.
Using some the off cuts of 2x2.
we soon have the floor batons screwed in place
Handy shelves !?
I think not, as I have a plan forming in my head...
Strawbs has found another off cut and persuaded it to continue the baton that's already there,
to give us something to nail the hardboard too.
In goes the first hidden baton and with some wedges.
and is screwed thru the baton just to its left
On goes the 2nd baton on top of the one we have just fitted and screwed together
Some scraps of plastic lining and an off cut of the fireproof polystyrene
and the corner is finally sealed and draught proofed
The wires are carefully moved out of the way, and we make sure they can move freely
with the aid of some off cuts of plastic liner
and some off cuts of fireproof insulation
The new workshop front is soon lined and insulated
We drag in a 8 x 6 sheet of hardboard,
take some careful measurements
and then very carefully cut it with a circular saw
and we soon have it nail gunned in place.
Its now ready for first coat of paint
We go to refit the bottom 1" chipboard sheet only to find it don't fit!
So we measure up and with some cutting we have it in place and a few screws in to hold it in place.
We decide to call it a day - not much you might think for over 6 hours work,
but most is prep work and hidden and that's where we loose time.
But knowing its done to the best of our abilities makes up for not getting as much done as we have over the last 3 days.
Many thanks once again Strawbs, I hope your backs ok in the morning.
For me its tea, bath n bed - I am shattered.!
Norton Commando - Your doing really well with your time and finishing. No reason to be rushing.
Stephen Osborn - not much chance of that m8 - just do a bit sit down n rest a bit - in fact some days its amazing just how much you can get done using that method
