Hi all.
My 1st day working on the transit all alone, as Lynne is back to work and already the black dog is doing his best to try n get me to stop, by making me miserable!.
So I decided to go and see my m8 about getting the leaks fixed and a few other jobs, altho very tiring driving, we had a great chat, no prices or quotes just yet as will have to wait until I get the back emptied out and back to him next Wednesday!.
He will have the transit till Saturday as he needs to make sure the panels are as dry as possible, before cleaning out the old seals and making any repairs and adding the new genuine Ford Panel sealant.
He has left me with a few jobs to do before then!
1. get the toilet wall built and mounted solidly.
2. get the outside panel in place,
3. put the kitchen unit were it will live (just in case he finds a window)
4. once done empty everything out of the back (god only knows, were I will put it).
5. Make sure the air vent, window and anything else I want doing is in the back.
6. get a lift home on Wednesday and to take me to collect on Saturday.
7. get some cash out ready to pay them!!
8. some will be done by bank transfer on the Saturday.
so looks as if my next week is all planed out for me, and I am dreading the cost but excited to get the work done, so we can move on with the conversion.
On way home, stopped and had a good chat with Norman and to see if he still wanted the Toyota, as I have a feeling I am gonna need the money, altho we have agreed a price, he is gonna think on it.
I will give him a few weeks, and if no answer I will get some help to get the battery off and down here and put on a good 24 hour trickle charge.
Right I am in the back of the transit, let us see what happens today :) :)
Postman drops of 20 of these that I ordered last night :) :)
just in time as I will be using them today :) :)
Top of the 1st upright is held in place by the corner clamps for now.
and the bottom lines up with the marks we made yesterday.
It takes a while, but eventually get it straight.
and the previous timber frame wood, is cut again and I find out that I can get both the top and bottom cross frames.
even tho I used the Mitre box, I still cannot cut in a straight line !
So will need a bit of sanding on the ends..
Marking up top and bottom of the upright and I need to trim it back just under 2cm""
As the roof is not square, I use an off-cut and draw a cut line.
Getting the upright to sit square on the bottom frame, causes some head aches and takes far to long, but eventually I have it true :) :)
It is a bit fiddly, but I finally get the triangle plates screwed in place
Which allows me to screw in the screws from the under side to give the frame extra strength..
This side sits on the floor and when I get the other 2 uprights screwed in place, I will screw thru the floor and the van floor to secure it..
I double check and the upright is slightly out of true!
But as soon as I re clamp the top of the upright it straightens up nicely.
Not 2 straight lines in the area I am working in, so I am having to rely on my eye site,
You can see where I have marked the floor as I try to find the right line.
Once it all lines up, I sit n discuss what has happened today, and we work out just were the door frame upright will go.
That is it for today, not a huge done in teh van, but with everything taken into account next Saturday is gonna hopefully mean, that nothing will hold up the build anymore and things hopefully will be moving just that much quicker.
