5th August 2013 - Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary & Castle Stalker

Published on 5 September 2022 at 06:34

Today is it of a rest day, supposedly after Donald's and Mines escapades of yesterday.
I am in a lot of discomfort n pain, but the holiday must go on,as I cannot ruin it for everybody else and we have some much to cram in as Donald n Val are only here for a week.

Today we are going to two more of Timothy's favourite places, the sea life sanctuary ad castle stalker

Norton Commando - What a smooth ride across.

We arrive at the Sea Life Sanctuay

Michael Osborn following in Tims ootsteps

with Michael Osborn. Always nice to see ya kids having fun with the little things, even tho they are somewhat older kids :) :)

The light house by the ferry

the loch is silky smooth today

Far better than any of those I have seen in the UK, and definitely worth every penny

Emma Osborn joins in

Emma Osborn - Hey I'm not that small

Emma Osborn - Yes but I'm a girl we're not meant to be tall x

I am not a lover of grey squirrels as they are an invasive imported species, If they could be got rid of, I believe the natural Red Squirrels would retake there natural habitats.

these flat fish were in paces 5 or 6 deep!

This floor tank was huge, giving many view points of the fish

Rainbow Trout

Emma

loads of clear informative detail boards all around this site.

Some of the pics are not best quality due to lighting conditions.
And asked not to use flashes.

this cheeky sod kept posing for the cameras

The turtles were great, many are rescue

View into the lock

Recovering Sea Lions

Otters, hard to find as they all resting part from one

Norton Commando - Oh, so incredable.

Just gotta have another go :) :)

Norton Commando - Time to be a kid. That's Great.

Tim fav drink, hot chocolate, chocolate, chocoalate and yet more chocolate with cream, marsh mellows and malteasers

Norton Commando - Most Excellent.

whilst everyone else was in the shop

I went outside the cafe to take some pics, and i dropped my wallet, i looked around but couldn't see it, I did see a lady rushing away, so we get onto the banks to get me cards stopped and the £600.00 cash is really gonna be sorely missed.....

Norton Commando - That Totally Sucks. What a good mood killer.

Stephen Osborn - Sure was - and things were very quiet for a while, luckily we have great kids

Michael McShane - Bad news. Where did honest people go to ?
Stephen Osborn - Dunno m8, some of that money was to pay the balance for our chalet. Luckily Donald & Val have been staying there for years and were really friendly with the landlord.

I promised to send the balance by cheque a week after we got home, and he agreed :) :)

Shane Phillips - There are loads and loads of honest people, but only takes one dishonest one to ruin the day

So I went back inside and had another of Tim's fav hot chocolates !!

Time to head back to the chalet

its getting late in the evening and were back at the ferry.
Damm just missed it !!

Norton Commando - Ah, time to leave already. What a day.

the name of our cabin

we go down to the cabin a quick tea and were pretty soon all fast asleep.

Norton Commando - Everyone got a good work out on the hike to the Mine. A well needed rest.

Some great wooden carvings

Norton Commando - Local Artisans. I always like seeing their work

Even I couldn't resist the stepping logs :) :)

Donald, Val n me resting, I think we all gonna sleep very deeply tonight :) :)

Norton Commando - Looks like you've been very energised.

We've been hear over 4 hours and could have spent even longer, but its time to head off to Castle Stalker

We are back on the road again.

I am doing a;ll the driving today, it just seemed pointless using 2 tanks of fuel and were we had to, pay for 2 cars..

Castle Stalker was closed by the time we got there, so we will come back another time...

The castle is still lived in

Norton Commando - WOW, What a kings castle. It would be nice to stay there a few days. Fantastic view.

The back up ferry, as the one we used this morning had broken down.

if this one breaks down or has to go away to be serviced.
its a 70 odd mile trip!

Sally the Seat having a well earned rest
