Hi Folks.
Kurgan is ill !
Just how bad, I do not know just yet, but hopefully today we may find out whit his diagnosis is.
Jack McClain - when everything else fails, do what I do! down two shots of Jack.and get a bigger hammer !!!
Stephen Osborn - Wish I could, but tea total!
Kurgan in its home looking very sad for himself :(
I Still don't know whats wrong in the engine all i know is she started to smoke when idling on way back from being Displayed on the N.A.B.D stand and on going up the steep hill in Lincoln when I opened the Throttle to about 1/3rd there was a nasty rattle from no2 Cylinder.
Still he got me home abiet with gentle use of the throttle.
I have Got a funeral to go to on Monday and hopefully will be on the N.A.B.S stand at Breigton ferry weekend after.
Kurgan's been moved to the brown shed, so I have room to work in the donor bike, in the workshop.
apart from the engine, carbs, exhaust, will also be using front forks, discs, rear caliper
not sure what else at this stage.
This is the donor bike I brought of ebay earlier this year. And I just have not got around to doing anything with it - I did have it running about 4 months ago.
Will be sold as a rolling chassis with sorn & log book as soon as Kurgan is done.
As according to the previous owner the engine, carbs & exhaust have all been setup and I will be using them instead of Kurgan's current Carbs n exhaust
Kurgan just fits in the Brown shed.
He is Sulking to himself at the moment
and does not feel very co-operative.
This is yet another gs1000 custom frame,
I think I have enough parts to build a complete bike !
So when the donor bike has been sold on I may start to put this together.
To sell on in the spring. I have the logbook and she is sorned.
Every time I want to do something I have to have a bloody clear up 1st !
But I have plans to rebuild my workshop sometime. But like most things it is likely to be just me dreaming!
this sides not to bad and can stay as it is for now.
But as I strip the Donor down, it is likely to get very untidy!!
some 3 hours later, and things are looking a lot better..
Now i just have to keep it like this or even better....
off comes the petrol tank - not hard as no mounts
Off comes the speedo cable as its in my way when undoing the exhaust studs.
I have a brand new set of exhaust studs sat here ready.
one is broken in the head.
Odie will hopefully be able to rectify that for me on saturday,
whilst I am stripping Kurgan down
Off comes the exhaust from the donor bike look very solid and should last me till i decide to sell Kurgan on.
these carbs are different to the ones that Kurgan uses,
I am just hoping the throttle cable is the same length
The Clutch cable is next
and it soon comes off.
Then the throttle cable
Off comes the custom Speedo.
and off comes the carbs
and the gear lever
off comes the top right engine mount.
I couldn't find most of my Allen keys so had to grind one to fit.
another job well done
now to start removing the bottom engine bolts.
They are seized solid so sprayed with Wd40 and left to soak
and removed the battery.
finally the bottom right mount comes away.
and off comes the sprocket cover
I have removed the top engine mount bolt & the mounting plate.
Luckily for me the chain has a split link :) :)
the Allan key is worn out by this time, So I had to grind down the other end.
and finally the bottom left mount plate comes away.
there was no top front mount bolt for some unknown reason
the broken stud - hope this isnt gonna cause me too much trouble.
that's it today folks am knackered and gonna grab an early night and get more done tomorrow.
I did not get as much done today as I hoped,
but hopefully tomorrow will see the engine removed as well as all the other bits i need to get Kurgan back on the road.
