From December 2022 - Some items have arrived for the Conversion!

Published on 11 December 2022 at 03:50

Hi Folks,

It's been a busy few days for the postie and delivery men/woman, with some goodies we have ordered.

There will be a steady flow of items, many costing under £30.00 and some a lot more, as funds become available :) :)

I will just be updating this Album as a group Album, there will be no separate pages when new items arrive. But I WILL Change "THE DATE ON THe PREVIOuS MENU BUTTON - SO THAT ITS OBVIOUS THERE HAS BEEN MORE ARRIVALS"

I have decided it would be easier for me to have all the items we buy on one, page so we can see at a glance, what we have and what we still need to get :) :)

Plus if anyone else is following these updates, it means they do not have to go searching thru days of updates to find what they are looking for.

Plus also I am kinda hoping people will use the Blog at the bottom of the page to leave there hints tips and advise :) :)

Hole Saw HSS M35 Cobalt Bi-Metal Cutter Bit

to drill thru the floor of the transit for the diesel heater custom mount to be fitted.
The mount that comes with the Heater requires a few holes to be drilled and from what owners have said almost 100% is to buy the custom mount. (More about that later on as it has not arrived yet)

I have brought decent quality Cutter and arbor and they give you the Pilot Drill free :) :)

Seems silly as only gonna use it once, but then again I have seen what the cheap crap ones can do!.

They will be stored in a lockable cupboard in workshop when we have finished with them.

The dearest thing we have brought so far!
and we have change out of £100.00 :) :)

Most people have the 400 watt version, but this 800 watt version was cheaper than the 400 watt ones, so I went for the larger one :) :)

After chatting with Strawb's and a few others it seems under the passenger seat is ideal for Transit conversions, with a hole drill thru the bulk head for the heater pipes.

So we will have a clear out and measure, to see if there is enough room, and arrange a weekend to do this one job, as we will need to remove the passenger seat for easier access and working space :) :)

We have brought 2 of these USB mini Hubs, to see what they are like.

This pair will live either side of the bed,

1 socket for reading lamp and other for charging kindles or phones.

If we like them, a soon as we work out how many we will need we will buy some more....

Have had a little play and they seem very solid when put together, the only down side is the short length of wire, but I suppose it was to silly to expect them to add a fuse & Fuse holder and a couple of MTRs of wire.
But what can you expect when you only paid £5.76 each !

Took as a long while before we decided these lights were for us.

The AAA rating helped us in the end.

So we brought 2 sets of 6 and that is probably who we are gonna install them.

for less than £18.00 each set - we cannot complain about the price, and the quality looks pretty good as well.

We just gotta decide how and were about

we are gonna install them in the ceiling...
But we still have a few weeks, to make up our minds

These little remote/dimmer units are just what we were looking for.

We wanted to be able to dimm the lights to save power if they not needed at normal settings.

As they run on the same settings, we will be buying a 2nd one. which will stay by the bed, the other one, will live towards the exit or if we go out with us :) :)

Not sure it would be worth putting rechargeable batteries in the remotes, as probably cheaper just to buy normal batteries.
But we will look at the choice later on down the line.

Meccion Bi-Metal Hole Saw Drill Bit HSS Fast Hole Cutter with Arbor and Centring Drill for Wood, Sheet Metal, Plasterboard, Iron, Plastic (55mm)

To cut the wholes for the ceiling lights. Like the other cutter we only gonna use it once and will join it when we have cut the holes.

These sensor lights will be for the bathroom, altho we have been using them in the back of the transit and we may only need to use 1 of them.
Which means we might have a spare that would come in handy to look at the fuse board, gas bottles gauge etc.

Apart from being a good light, they have there own lithium rechargeable battery in them, making them very versatile and generally very handy emergency light.

And of coarse with the motion sensor no switches needed :) :)
They also come with magnets on the back of the light.

SOUND DEADENING DODO MAT ® THERMO FLEECE 50MM THICK 3.9SQM CAMPER VAN INSULATION.

This will be for the walls around the toilet. We are hoping not only good insulation but the sound deadening will help keep the noise down when the toilet is in use.

I am hoping the one roll will be enough but we will not know until we have the frame built and the out side panels (3 ply) in place.

UK Plug-in Electricity Monitor Power Meter Energy Usage Wattage Kwh Analyzer.

I do not want to go down the inverter route, but with my Sleep acnea machine being 24 volts, I will not have any choice. So this meter will help us get some readings to find out its consumption usage, so we can get things right.

I will also be taking my Computer base unit and that will need to be tested as well.

I will not be using a Monitor as will use a projector screen, that will double up with the projector, to watch tv or films.

A short throw projector and it has a lithium battery installed last for 1 or 2 films, depending on there length :) :)

Unfortunately, what this company sent is not what they are advertising, so I will wait a few more days to see if they contact me, if not will be calling my card and get the payment stopped!

I brought this one as it had a lithium battery installed, which meant I could watch a film a night, if I wanted to and would not be draining any charge from the solar system...

UPDATE 8TH DEC 2022 - THE NEXCAM PROJECTOR ABOVE!.

i HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO CONTACT THE COMPANY I BROUGHT THIS FROM!

BUT ALTHO THEY STATE ON THERE WEBSITE ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE REPLIED WITH 24-48 HOURS!
YESTERDAY i RANG THE COMPANY'S PHONE NUMBER, AND LEFT A MESSAGE AS THERE WAS NO ONE TO TAKE MY CALL.
SO THIS MORNING WAS OVER 48 HOURS, SO i RAND THEM AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME I GOT " THIS NUMBER IS NOT RECOGNISED"

SO STRAIGHT ONTO MY BANK TO SEE IF WE HAVE ANY PROTECTION AS WE PAID USING OUR CARD.
WHAT A TIME, i HAD TO GO THRU THE WHOLE THING TWICE. ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS AND THEN THEY PASSED ME TO THE FRAUD DEPT. AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, BUT EVEN MORE IN DEPTH.

IT TURNS OUT CARD WE HAVE HAS PROTECTION, BUT WE HAVE TO WAIT 15 DAYS FROM WHEN i RECIEVED THE ITEM & MY 1ST ATTEMPT AT CONTACTING THEM, ME BEING ME i HAD NOT ONLY KEPT COPIES OF ALL MESSAGES AND TIME LOGS FOR PHONE CALLS. WHICH I GLADLY HANDED OVER.
SO NOW JUST GOTTA WAIT TILL SATURDAY, IF THE COMPANY HAVE NOT CONTACTED ME I AM TO RING MY BANK AND THEY WILL TRY AND GET MY MONEY BACK!
I HAVE TOLD THEM THAT IF THEY MANAGE TO CONTACT THE COMPANY THAT i AM PREPARED TO RETURN THERE PROJECTOR AT THERE EXPENSE AS IT WAS NOT WAS ADVERTISED!

LOOK AT PIC ABOVE THIS ONE AND SEE WHAT i ORDERED!.

PIC TO LEFT IS WHAT I RECEIVED.
UNBRANDED THAT LOOKS SIMILAR TH THE ONE ON THERE WEBSITE!

INSIDE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT.

NO BATTERY AND BY THE LOOKS OF IT A COMPLETE STRIP OF THE CASE TO PLUG ONE IN (PROVIDED I COULD FIND OUT WHICH BATTERY IT TAKES (NO INFO FOUND AT ALL ON GOOGLE!!))

AND JUST LIKE THERE WEBSITE, THE BOX CONFIRMS THERE IS A BATTERY INSIDE!!

NOW i WAS PRESUMING IT WAS A SIMPLE MISTAKE, WITH THE WRONG ITEM SHIPPED TO ME, AND THOUGHT NO PROBLEM, THEY WILL SEND ME A RETURN DOCKET AND THEY WILL SEND ANOTHER UNIT!

HOW WRONG WAS i !!

i WILL UPDATE THIS WHEN THINGS HAPPEN.
SOME MIGHT SAY IT'S ONLY A PROJECTOR, BUT WHEN YOUR PLANNING TO LIVE ALONE AND ON SOLAR POWER, YOU NEED TO WORK THINGS OUT CAREFULLY, WITH ITEMS COVERING 2-3 JOBS ..

IN THIS CASE STRAWB'S HAD DONATED AN OLD PROJECTOR SCREEN, FOR ME TO ADAPT, SO NO POWER HUNGRY TV OR MONITORS NEEDED!

THE ABOVE PROJECTOR RUNS OF IT'S OWN BATTERY AND IS CAPABLE OF WATCHING 2 X MOVIES, SO ON CHARGE DURING THE DAY AND USE AT NIGHT.

MY COMPUTER WOULD BE HOOKED TO THE PROJECTOR AND USE THE SCREEN ALSO, SO i CAN KEEP IN TOUCH WITH LYNNE AND CHILDREN.

SO TO ME NO IT'S NOT JUST A PROJECTOR, IT WAS THOUGHT LONG AND HARD BEFORE I BROUGHT WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO ALL THE ABOVE!!.

The Fuse box, has more fuses than I will be needing, so if things change later on, we will not have to worry about replacing it.

Also if a fuse port goes down we can soon move to an unused fuse port in a few minutes.

2m Floor Cable Cover Protector Rubber Heavy Duty Trunking Wire Lead Trip Bumper.

brought this in for 2 jobs.
Firstly to cover the wire across the path from house to transit, to save anyone tripping over the cable, and secondly will be used when I am at a site with electrical hookup :) :)

Luoistu 6 PCS Cooling Towels(120x30 cm) Multipurpose Neck Quick Dry Soft Breathable Sweat Towel Microfiber Towel for Yoga,Pilates,Golf, Gym, Camping, Hiking,Workout & More Sports (120x30 cm-6 pack).

These will double up as hand towels and if it gets too hot I can soak one and put over my head or shoulders to help me cool down :) :)

we will have 3 each :) :)
and we are also looking at similar for bath towels.

At times these days it seems to take ages for items to arrive, but when I checked it was only 4 working days plus a weekend!

But finally my switch unit has arrived. I know it will be located near the side door, but just were I do not know yet.

With this I still need to purchase some suitable wire, a few USB ports, once we have sorted there locations out, and of coarse the solar panel kit n batteries!!

I am still talking to Strawbs about this, as if possible we need to be over the solar

power than what we actually need, but then still there may be odd days if not driving, that a small gennie and gallon of fuel may be needed!..

I suspect the next few weeks, will see a huge dip in available funds as we finally decide on what panels to buy and which batteries also.

Hopefully the next week, we will have all the boarding out of the transit and if possible we will marl out on the floor were things are gonna be located, we have most of the measurements (if not all the details, just yet).

From there we are hoping to find locations for water tanks, batteries, gas bottle, tools, gennie & Fuel can, ETC storage locations.

Meanwhile will have to keep sorting and selling items to get as much funds in teh jars as possible.

10th Dec 2022 - this "Sound Deadening Roller 30mm Wide Silent Coat Dynamat Dodo"
arrived.

So now we are almost ready to start installing the insulation into the Transit :) :)

We did nip down Andrews this afternoon, to buy the timber to make the bathroom frame, but they have changed there hours!

So will hopefully go back there tomorrow morning :) :)

we just then need to get electric power into

the back of the van, lights and oil radiator, to remove the condensation and warm it up enough for the glues to go off..

Would be nice to make a start next week, but I struggle to get in and out, so we will have to work some sort of plan out, or I will be knackered before I have started!.

Finally this afternoon, Lynne n me managed to get this setup power meter monitor installed on the Sleep Acnea machine. Will be doing a 7 day test and that should give us the amps/watts information we need.

There was already an inverter in the transit when we brought it, but whether it is powerful enough remains to be seen.

We do not plan many items that we have to keep at 240 volts (Unfortuently) and they will be.

Sleep acnea Machine.

My Computer Base (next for the power monitor again a 7 day average say 4 hours per day.

2 x Double sockets (1 will be used for the items above) the other is for emergency.

Maybe a couple of sunken ceiling lights.

Obviously if I am at a campsite with electrical hookup, then all the 240 volt items can be used on hookup saving power.

But I am not planing on visiting these sights very often, probably once a month to empty the toilet, top up with water ECT... and then only over night, to save money.

We are getting close to having all the 12 volt items that we will need to fit, infact we have already started to order items for charging the batteries from the Alternator.

I must also find out whether I will need to change my current alternator for a more powerful one ?

Hopefully in next few weeks we should know

01. what size inverter we need.

02. How many Batteries we will need (my mind says 4 (but this is out of my area and am reliant on Strawbs for as much information a she can help us with)).

03. what size and how many solar panels.
04. Am on the lookout for roof rack poss with a cage and ladder to mount the solar panels.
05. measure the size of batteries and see where they will fit

06. The Water Tank size and location
07. Location for 2 Gas Bottles
08. Location for the Fuse/electrical board.

09. Location for my 3 drawer tool kit.

10. Sort out insulation for the water pipes (not sure if gas will need lagging)

11. fire extinguishers, location and how many & what sort
12. First aid kit (will hopefully fit in one of the upper cupboards

13. I am sure there will be more added to this list !

At the moment as we decide on one thing 4 more pop up :) :)
at the moment money is not holding me up, but my health and lack of mobility is!
The money side, is slowly building upwards, even tho I have been buying items. But once we find an item we need/want then I search the best I can to get identical or better spec for a cheaper price.
So far on the items I have brought have managed to save just over £200.00 on the 1st price we start with. :) :)

Lynne's bedtime reading light has arrived has around 4-6 hours running time of its own lithium battery and is charged by usb lead :) :)
hndy hi/low light option to extend battery life, and no annoying flicker.

For some unknown reason they sent mine separate ???

But just another of those small things now sat here ready for us to install once we are ready.
