8th December 2023 - Disco Transit Green Long Wheel base and Hi Roof Conversion

No items have arrived today, shame as waiting on a large Temu order for some tools, so I can get restarted on the conversion.

So Transit Failed!

No surprise there, But what did surprise me was none of the advisories picked up last year, all passed, even tho I had not got around to sorting them out, due to the trouble with the engine and transit being away for a very large chunk of this year!

FAIL Offside Front Wheel bearing has excessive play (5.1.3 (a) (i))  (jUST CHECKING MY RECIEPTS THESE WHEEL BEARINGS WERE REPLACED IN 2017!) Done 1800 miles!

The garage just went ahead and sorted the failed items!.

Got a phone call of them, that it is already to collect.

 
Just picked up transit with new mot at £128.00, including mot, cheapest pass yet.

On way home decided to get front. Tyres replaced whilst I remember.

That cost more £198.99

Just of the phone to mechanic, who done the work on me transit.

Apparently the front Wheel Baring was loose! and he just tightened it....

I was not aware that the transit wheel bearing were adjustable, and couldn't get any real info from mechanic ? :( :( 

I will keep an eye on it for now, I can only presume the split pin broke and allowed the castle nut to come loose ???

Altho it seems to drive great, I am still uncomfortable about it!

I may be worrying over nothing, of maybe because mechanic wouldn't tell me why the bearing had come loose.

If by end of this year I am still not happy, I will have both front wheel bearings replaced. 

They are not expensive and for peace of mind, is a no brainer.

I hate moving garages to work with new people as now gotta build that trust and confidence in them back up like the previous mechanics I have used in the past.

But on the plus Side - He did say the Smoothest and best transit he has ever driven.

I will take that compliment    

Now all I gotta do is somehow get restarted on the conversion again.
