10th December 2022 - Disco Transit Green Long Wheel base and Hi Roof update

Published on 10 December 2022 at 13:37

Hi Folks,

Back again this time with some good news.

The work done to get the Transit thru the MOT.

The binding front brake, we were sure was because basically it has been stood since end of 2018 as Covid was about to strike!.
So this was an easy fix, just stripped both front calipers (Kingsway know if work is required on one side, I always do both (even If like at the moment I cannot afford it (to me it is false economy as you will soon have to go back to have the other side done))
Gave them a real good clean n grease and reassembled - Problem SOLVED.

The next job (Nearside Outer Integral body structure corroded to the extent that the rigidity of the assembly is significantly reduced Outer sill below side loading door) came as a shock to me, as I thought that part was solid.
There is a small hole in the crease of the drivers footstep that we know about, an dthought it would be that ! but no.

Anyway Kingsway done some welding for me, under-sealed the area and took it back.

This morning I get a call from Kingsway saying it had passed (yep i know ) whats the bad news £328.60 !!

and come late spring will need to clean and respray the welded area as obviously the air is very moist and will cause some rust. No problem, I will add it to the calendar and get back to you about the advisories after xmas.

  • Offside Front Inner Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii))"

We are a bit confused the disc issue and Doug is gonna contact the MOT station and find out what exactly they they mean as they were replaced in 2017 with brand new ford Discs and only done around 2000 miles since...

The bushes I just buy and they can be done, as soon as I know what parts Kingsway wants, or if they can get for me may let them get them, But I prefer gen ford parts, but we will see.

We will monitor the minor leak, and I will see if Doug will let me have a look see, on the ramp when they are quiet.
I am not a fan of those exhaust patches, but if the rest is sold, it may make the affected part last that bit longer.

Will get the broken mounting and its partner sorted at the same time...

Now we can get back to the conversion :) :)
