My model railway.
Is A recent hobby, well sort off.
Back at 256 Arundel Road, Walton, Peterboro, We had quiet a layout up in the attic. It was never finished or anywhere near as I kept changing my mind.
But when the house became too small for the 6 of us, I sold most of it off and it went towards this house, I cannot remember how much was raised but it probably was not a lot and the bulk of the layout stayed there.
I often wonder if its still there, but never have been back and knocked at the door to find out.
Anyway 2019 hit us all hard, but me it just about destroyed me, and I know I will never recover enough to continue the life I led before then.
So I needed something for Lynne n me to do, to take the place of the disco!.
So I hit ebay brought large lots, kept what I wanted and SOLD the rest of to claw back the funds to buy more items for the model railway.
This was very successful, as we now have a loft full of boxes full up of model railway bits floor to roof. But there things stopped.
We needed a new roof, recent worsening of health also caused issues for me to get into the loft and I couldn't manage the cross beams.
So earlier this year we finally had our roof re slated, joists all strengthened, the cross members cut out, new hatch ( 2 off) in an effort to allow me to get into the attic. - we moved 96% of the boxes back into the attic and that's were the model railway is now.

There are boxes all over the house, most waiting for me to sort thru and sell most of it on, but I just cannot find any motivation for it....
We have the funds to build the preserved line baseboard along one side of the attic, but as I am struggling to drive I cannot get to timber merchant to buy the timber, let alone the thought of having to empty at least half of the attic back out again.
Altho the roof is now membrained, it still needs insulating and boarding, before I start to build the base. Just maybe over this winter (2022) we will get at least half the roof done and the preserved base down, so we can make a start.
There is also another railway that is up there that was supposed to be a xmas prezzie a few years back, but I have same issue in getting timber let alone building the frame work and then the 100 miles to deliver it!
Like everything we do it has to be self funded after initial pot is exhausted, so still got loads of sorting n selling to get on with, but most not until i get the layout done.
