2022 it finally dawned on me that the Dj in me had died!
and had to Finally accept that i have to give up of ever returning to the Disco fold.
DJ Mr Creature, just does not exist like he was and in fact this is also his ending as well,
as I try n accept my new life.
Altho these days listening to muzic is very hard and brings back way to many memories, many of them of sad times, but also happy times. As I listen to my collection, I will pick tunes that mean a lot to me and add them here, and in time I will add text to go with them..
The criteria to be included in the tunez below is simples. Minimum of 100 plays since I started the disco back in 1995, till the last booking in 2019!
Something that is a lot easier today, as my play out device catalogued tunes I played, so only had to download the file and add it to the data base file..
Please forgive any tears that I cause, I hope they will provide you with comfort and in time ....
Turn up your volume to the max, get ya air guitars or dance partners and have fun............
The first track, was re-introduced to me by Bj (Nabd Fame). Yes I had heard it before, but never thought I would play at a booking, let alone in 1000 plus people marquees.
But from 2016 - 2018 was the most requested tune to end the night on!
After the 1st time we played it.
It often was called for an encore so was often played twice back to back and on odd occasions even 3 times.
Many thanks BJ for re introducing me to this tune! Altho I cannot remember them (sadly yet) I hope others you introduced me to, will be added in this album.
The song above, I was re-introduced a long way back by Tracey Browne I believe. She performed it onstage with here then band at a NABD National Rally and Altho not a regular, at times when I was down, would slip it in if playing background in the afternoons at rallies we were booked at.
This song, always brought thoughts of our eldest son Timothy, and I cannot think of a more apt track for that and to be included here.
3 doors Down - Duck n Run 2000.
Altho Lynne n me love 3 Doors Down, this track would only work in certain areas of the country.
Rest of the time, was relegated to afternoon background.
3 Doors Down - Kryptonite 2000.
Another 3 Doors Down track, not quiet as rocky, but got a better response on the dance floor
Accept - Balls To The Wall 1984
Last few years this track seemed to fall out of favour on the dance floor, but could see peoples feet n fingers tapping when played in Afternoon.
ACDC - Back In Black 1980.
Reminds me after I gave up riding, but missed rallies, but don't drink, so started a rock disco.
Probably the best comeback track ever.
Always requested and always a dance floor full of people.
ACDC - Girls Got Rhythm 1979
In fact the whole dammed Album "Highway to Hell" as not a bum track !
There are so many tracks from ACDC that could be added here, I am just gonna limit them to a few...
ACDC - Whole Lotta Rosie 1977
2nd most requested ACDC tune, says it all really.
ACDC - Thunderstruck 1990.
Most requested track and that's really something with the back catalogue
For me it;s a toss up between "Highway to Hell" and this track for my ACDC most fav!
Adam Ant - Stand and deliver 1981.
Often played at Rock related parties/ weddings etc in the party section!
Aerosmith - Come Together 1978.
Another popular track, but again sadly relegated to afternoon or rainy sessions.
Aerosmith - Love In An Elevator 1989.
early evening usually best for this tune, but depended on were in the uk you were booked.
Again Aerosmith is another band I could add loads of tunez on here, but ................
Airbourne - Ready To Rock 2004.
probably my most fav Airbourne tune, followed closely by "Black Dog Barking"
Alannah Myles - Black Velvet 1989.
Always a tune that gets requested, at rallies and birthday parties :) :)
But I am a huge Alananah Miles fan.................
Alex Harvey Band - Gang Bang 1972.
Often requested in afternoons and early evening!
Always great tunez and great response from the crowd
Alice Cooper - Poison 1989.
With some great tunez like " Elected" "Schools Out" Alice always popular were every you go.
April Wine - I Like To Rock 1980
Could have any of several from April Wines back Catalogue.
I grew up with April Wine and were my first fav Rock band. Sadly last 6-7 years all relegated to afternoon background tunez.
Aretha Franklin - Think 1968
ok some Soul for a welcome change, but what a set of vocals.
Argent - Hold Your Head Up 1972
Another band from my youth, even today this track holds up, at certain parts of the country, others background muzic.
Ash - Burn Baby Burn 2001
One of the few tracks I brought that flopped everywhere I played it..So stopped playing it.
Ashton Gardner and Dyke - The resurrection shuffle 1971
Another of the great bands from my youth, but still popular on News Years Eve and mixed in with the party tunez
Asia - Heat Of The Moment 1982
Huge in the 80s, and still requested for regularly.
Atomic Rooster - Devils Answer 1971
Another band from my youth, at times played to death, but mixed in with some other Atomic tunez ( Devils Answer, Tomorrow Night etc) still well received.
Audioslave - Gasoline 2002
Along with Cochise and one or 2 others, that I cannot remember at this time, always floor fillers..
B52s - Love Shack 1989
Always popular, especially at older birthday parties, weddings etc..
Bachman Turner Overdrive - You Aint Seen Nothing Yet 1974
Another great band I found in the 70s and always popular, with several other tunez to choose from, tracks rarely get over played.
Bad Company - Feel Like Making Love 1975
With a huge back catalogue of great tunez Bad Company always being asked for usually - "Any Track"
Badfinger - No Matter What 1970
One for the handbag brigade, Badfinger, probably a bit soft these days, but at 70s nites always fills the floor.
Bad Manners - Can Can 1981
Ya just cannot go wrong with some SKa, be it a bike rallies, some rock nights, parties, celebrations! the list is like the SKA catalogue!
Bay City Rollers - Bye Bye Baby 1975
Glam Rock at it's best, always requested and woe betied if you forget. with several great tunez Bay City Rollers will keep ya dancefoor bopping.
