14th February 2011 - Kurgan - Suzuki GS1000E - Donor Bike Update

Published on 29 December 2022 at 13:56

Today is all about getting the Donor bike back as a rolling Chassis and finding as many parts as I can. (SOLD so removed eBay Link)

and has started to generate lots of interest which will hopefully translate into a sale.

The funds raised will go towards taxing the transit and the rest put away to go towards paint job & Chroming for the CBR1000.

So with people phoning up to come and see the project, I decide it might be best if i loosely put the rolling chassis back together and as I find parts put in boxes. 1st job is to clear a space to work in
As you can see - like most sheds its a mess and stuff has been piled on top of teh frame.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thats better some space around teh frame and its propped up on blocks
In goes teh rear wheel - missing some spacers & washers ( which I found later and are in the box of bits.
Had to add a few more blocks under the frame to keep it steady
On goes the risers and billet yokes - I hate wide front ends !
on goes the side panel and the ignition switch and found teh key
rear wheel spacer & washer
Left side panel - cant find any bolts to fit at moment so in teh box of bits it goes
teh seat that came with it
the carbs - now in box of parts
clutch lever 1" now in box of bits
Thought I'd sold this - so teh throttle assembly goes into teh box of bits
teh seat in place (not bolted)
On goes teh froks from GS850L
and in goes teh front wheel (needs discs and bolts)
front calipers with brake hoses
the ignition coils that came with it - they mount under the seat
teh battery box with selonoid & Horn ( reg/rec fits on here as well but dont have a spare)
left hand handle bar grip for 1" bars
teh handle bars - i hate em they are approx 44" long
the original rear mudguard with rear light & number plate. Thats it for today. Now have most of the parts with it. Just the engine and exhaust to put with it. Hopefully it will go for good money and give me a good starting fund for the cbr project that
I did try to start him up but he was having non of it. Altho a bit of Easy Start soon had it firing up on all 4. So theres nothing for it gonna have to remove the carbs and re strip em down. If ebay sales go well I might find out how much it costs to have
1Wire checking time, just to see what wires do what.
Thats the Hi beam light working when it should. Also sorted the clock lights at the same time
and it goes off when it should a swell
under the fish plates is were this connector is gonna live. The blue wire is for the Neutral light.
Also teh oil pressure light
nice n tidy with these blocks
thats better theres netruel & oil lights working
general pic of top tube - its a bit of a mess at the moment, but will soon tidy up when I have finished adding wires.
Under the seat are is getting more and more untidy, but I have left enough free wire to strap to teh frame tubes.

Was gonna start on the gear indicator lights, but the batteries flat on the camera and I am struggling to see the colors of the wires.

So I though best to stop now as I don't wanna rick what I had already done.

Hopefully will get back in the workshop tomorrow, unless i have over done it again and need to rest
