After pushing myself just too far on Wednesday,

I decided it would be better to give the bike a rest yesterday,

and this morning it seemed to have worked, my chest was freer and i was not breathing like smarties in a tube,

well almost.

Timothy has come down the workshop with me today, It's great to not only have my eldest son willingly come and help his old man out, but the fun we have at the same time  :) :)

Huge thanks Timothy

So after looking at the pics i had uploaded here from Wednesday to remind myself were I was, its back in the shed. 1st thing to go was the top right engine mount.
then the bottom engine mount nut - will pull the bolt out when we tip the frame over.
Used 3 small yellow cable ties to hold teh loom outa the way, so hopefully we dont trap em when we lift the frame over the engine & when we put in the replacement engine.
the brown is the mains link wire from right to left handle bar switches. For some unkown reason I had soldered this ! (must use bullets when engine is back in place.
off comes the throttle assembly and light/starter unit. ( I just hope teh throttle cable inner is gonna fit the replacement carbs as going from butterfly to throttle ! )
off comes the rev counter cable
the left hand switch gear. On e of the possible jobs if I get time is to fit indicators, as I am amazed at how many car drivers these days don't know what hand signals mean !!!!!!!!!!!
off comes the Kliktronic handle bar buttons
off comes the foot hydrolic clutch rod from forwards
and off comes the bottom part of the hydrolic clutch assembly.
and finally its off. I just hope it all goes together as easily!
remove one bolt for the hydrolic clutch assembly so i can get clear acces to the engine mount bolt
and away comes the left hand forward controls.
I have decided to try and remove this is one piece - hoping that I only have to line up the gear lever arm, instead of the whole lot
and remove the right bottom engine mount
On removal of the forward controls was left with this threaded bar, that I thought was a bolt ! Nope mole grips wont shift it
so its back to one of the old tricks, 2 nuts !
and out it comes :)
thats the kliktronic off in one piece took a bit of doing as the bolts were longer than the space but with patience its off, altho now gotta trace the wires backwards
out comes the top rear engine mount bolt and spacer
undo the conector that comes from the kliktronic to the kliktronic electrics box, and its away in a safe place
of come the handle bars for safe storage
off comes the sprocket cover, now ive abig spanner somewere that will fit that nut (no split link on this chain)
finally found the spanner and off comes the nut - but gotta slacken the chain now :(
off comes the left hand side panel to give me assess to the electrics
Thats the rear wheel slacken off and the socket and space come off.
the altiniator wires
starter motor lead
neutral light
oil pressure light
engine to frame earth lead
removed the headlamp
left hand handle bars switch gear wires in the shell
not sure about these - took pic as diff coloured wires joining together
not sure about these - took pic as diff coloured wires joining together
thats the headlamp shell out of the way
a blue to a green ???
green to green/yellow ??
earth block
off comes the clocks, for some unkown reason the rev counter wont go beyond 5000rpm - will be going on ebay for spares/repair
off comes the ignition switch - nothing wrong with it except at some stage someone has tried to force it - it will make a good spare
altho the top tube on Kurgan is a bit higher that the one on the donor bike - decided it prudent to remove the engine breather cover
and then we lay the bike on its side. The bottom rear engine bolt proved that it didnt really wanna come out but eventually it gave way to determined efforts.
propping the Kurgan up so that I can work on it without too much grief - and then we drop the front end out - and that didnt really wanna move at all taking us nearly 1 hour to get it out ! Many thanx to my Eldest son Tim for all your help. (hell proball
there it is all propped up and now ready for me to start putting things back. on. Think I'm gonna leave it there for the night, as me back is killing me and i'm very tired. Tomorrow is gonna be a long day !
